AdaDoom
I don't think it's going to be anything, as there hasn't been any work on it all year. It was originally going to be 5 small shops to be let out to anyone who wanted them though. SeanMacGabhann
They used to do Turkish pizzas - I like to think the council has the hump with them since they stopped doing them..I wouldn't mind if one of the "5 shops" became a decent chipper Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4273-new-shops/page/2/#findComment-137171 Share on other sites
Dez
Good guess is that whatever it becomes will be tatty and down market. All the top marque businesses are moving in to the lower end of LL. Look at the Plough and its sorry state and being across the road from Barry House asylum hostel may not be advantageous. The Bombay Bicycle Club is the most up-market business we have up this end. Dez
I must try it again SeanM thanks haven't been there for so long. My memory of it includes going in one evening with my dad who lived in Ireland at the time and us two were the only customers and with three bar staff it still took ages to get served. That doesn't happen in Ireland where even if it's three deep at the bar you'll get served immediately. SeanMacGabhann
Dez - absolutely hear you. I've lived up this end for 8 years and have wanted that pub to be a good "stop in for a quick one after getting off the bus" for most of them. I used to try out the old Plough every 6 months and it was always bad - bad service, bad to non-existent food, bad vibes, bad carpet. Actually scratch that.. scary,life-sapping carpetAnyway - since the refurb last year it's a different pub completely. The food isn't great (head-office Mitchel-Butler fare) but everything else about it is pretty great. The open-mic nights every month are well worth going along too. If you pop in some night I might even see you there Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4273-new-shops/page/2/#findComment-137322 Share on other sites
Nero
Evenin' all. I rang Tesco about nine months ago and was told that it wasn't going to be a Tesco mini-mart. Glad that there is some construction, but peeved that they've not cleared up the tagging on the front. If there were a phone number of the developers I'd've rung it. Dez
OK SeanM perhaps I'll give the Plough a fair go one evening when it looks lively Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4273-new-shops/page/2/#findComment-137387 Share on other sites
