Cassius
I think it depends on the jab - I had to pay for my Yellow Fever. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4267-holiday-jabs/#findComment-136385 Share on other sites
buggie
Might be worth contacting the surgery and explaining your concerns & what NHS direct told you - could be there's been a miscommunication or they can explain why you need to get them first. espelli
A while ago when I was having a load of jabs done my GP gave me a prescription and then I collected the vaccines and kept them in my fridge at home and then took them with me for my appointments. Apparently they did not use enough of the vaccine to justify buying in as the rabies jab was ?95 a phial! Is that what they meant do you think? TJS
just had my jabs today, compeltely free - apparently free in Southwark, apparently cheaper to "prevent" rather than "cure"....excellent service. Cassius
I don't know how much it would cost, but is it worth possibly risking your health to save a few pounds - after all if you've forked out the money for an expensive holiday it seems a bit like a false economy. jollybaby
Andyng - I just had a look into this and according to the BNF (the pharmaceutical reference book that we use in the NHS) the initial vaccination and the boosters are the same preparation/dose and so I don't see why you can't get both from your practice or a normal pharmacy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4267-holiday-jabs/#findComment-137015 Share on other sites

I received Hep A amongst 3 others, all free of charge and did not have to buy them from a pharmacy or anything beforehand. The only challenge as ever of late with Melbourne Grove is actually speaking to someone to get an appointment booked in Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4267-holiday-jabs/#findComment-137141 Share on other sites
