Frankie G
Couldn't agree more with the last comment. How insensitive of the some of the affluent folk who have made lordship lane their latest enclave Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42640-irish-shop-to-close/page/5/#findComment-742071 Share on other sites
85volga
Please no more on the "insensitive" ongoing class war red herrings that appear to be taking over the ED forum topics as of late, whats the alternative should we nationalize all failing shops ???? A shop either works or or doesn't.A local business obviously has to have kerb appeal to draw you in and make you want to purchase something or buy into the theme/personal service. If it doesn't or it looks as though the owners can't be bothered anymore then it will fall by the way and another place will pop up in its place. It's our right as the hard working consumer to spend our money on where and wherever we please. So I stand by my initial observation of the Irish shop.Dasvidaniya tovarich Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42640-irish-shop-to-close/page/5/#findComment-742485 Share on other sites
suzza22
How about PRETTY TRADITIONAL opens up there? They are looking for a shop aren't they? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42640-irish-shop-to-close/page/5/#findComment-744589 Share on other sites
worldwiser
Have to agree with 85volga. Not to be too uncharitable, but they really went to a special effort to make their shop front as uninviting as humanly possible. These days that kind of shop needs to be in an area with higher footfall anyway. StraferJack
I miss the dusty tapas place that used to be next door (now Swadesh)and by miss, I mean remember wondering about that place when I passed it - I don't mean I ever went in and liked it or anything Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42640-irish-shop-to-close/page/5/#findComment-744774 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Jesus, I'd totally forgotten about the old tapas place. Never set foot in it either... but then, who did? BigED
I did. Once. Tapas do Brasil. There was nothing wrong with it, apart from a near total lack of customers. And I miss the Irish shop. I even liked the front window. But once the church closed down the hall next door there were suddenly no Irish events (music, dance, sport, language, wedding parties, etc) to provide a stream of customers getting their fix of red lemonade, Taytoes crisps, Barry's tea, Kimberley biscuits and the world famous* Clonakilty black pudding.(* not really) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42640-irish-shop-to-close/page/5/#findComment-744821 Share on other sites
