Agreed - had great sheet of pork ribs from him this week - cooked as bodice (with cabbage and mash).

I used to get the Clonakilty black and white puds from Guy Sparkes in NthX rd but they no longer do the market.

Tavern Snacks - now that is a proper salt and vinegar crisp - I've only ever seen them at The Blue Posts on Berwick Street.

I do think it's sad - gentrification is a big and complex debate, and I'm definitely a latter day ED emigre drawn to some extent by nice shops and places to drink but I also like an area to be authentic and there is also definitely a case that despite all of these 'independent' cafes and provisions shops London's high streets in certain areas are all beginning to look the same.

I only went in there once with a Irish friend, but otherwise I'd agree that the shutters always made it look closed. It is still a shame to loose a local business.

I'm all about the cheese & onion. I get them in Fox's on Kirkdale (Sydenham). Proppa booza innit!

    • Just read this posting about the Blue Brick Cafe which I supported when they first applied to open. I Spoke out for them in front of three councillors because the council didn't want a cafe to continue there in a residential area. What a joy it has been seeing them there ever since and I though that it was the owner, Daniel, who had stopped putting the tables outside himself. Sorry to learn that it was Southwark Council putting a damper on things. I never noticed those table blocking the whole pavement and I live nearby and walk past regularly. One local, newly arrived resident in Fellbrigg Road tried the block the expansion of he North Cross Road street market some years ago - shame how some people have their own biased views. Sound like a bit of a situation up at the EDT though. Cheers!
    • Odd request but would love if available. anything 12-16mm
    • As a regular buggy pusher I've found the people on the kerb to be nothing like louts or yobs, but actually very friendly people who move when they see you or realise you are trying to pass.  May I suggest a smile and a hello to engage with your neighbours rather than labelling them all louts
    • There were a couple of incidents (pre pandemic) of possibly contaminated meat being left on Peckham rye. I remember having a conversation with one of the gardeners. Always best to be cautious
