daisytcat
We're thinking of visiting Ireland for the first time in April with 2 year old twins. Can anyone give recommendations for a good base location for day trips? Dublin isn't really an option as cities are too difficult with the twins. Anywhere with gorgeous scenery and interesting historical landmarks would be appreciated. We'll have a rental car.Thank you! StraferJack
West cork a great choiceWest generally... South Kerry, north Clare Ballyvaughan is a particular favourite of mine. Small small town in gorgeous location. Just a couple of pubs and restaurants but so handy for many beaches and the burrenGalway a short drive away for a bigger day outBias means I should mention my hometown of youghal in co cork as wellLongest beach in many countriesBustling townHandy for cork and Waterford citiesKinsale harbor and gastro centre nearbyEast coast Ireland is a bit Home Counties England by comparisonMiddle Ireland (athlone etc) is a lot of flat bog landDraw a line from Waterford through cork and coastal cork, Kerry and Clare up to Galway and Sligo and you'll be in right ball park(North Kerry and south Clare a slight exception. A bit more hard bitten and less touristy. As a rule. Still some nice spots tho) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42395-where-to-go-in-ireland-with-toddlers/#findComment-731958 Share on other sites

philiphenslowe
Another vote for Cork. We took our then 11 month old on the family tour (3 of his grandparents are from Cork) last year + had a great time. Kinsale was our favourite place, closely followed by Gougane Barra.Enjoy!
