It's not that scary in my experience, and I didn't do the fasting thing with him just used some principles of the diet. It is scientifically recognised that refined foods are not considered to be healthy. There are other aspects of this article that do not respond to her claims directly. Anyway I digress, thanks for the info Edmummy, but I am mindful that this post will deviate. Could any Gaps followers please Pm me. Many thanks

Gosh a lot of people make a lot of money from over complicated diet advice.

Eat a wide variety of lots of fruit and veg, everything else in moderation especially high fat, high sugar, highly processed stuff.

There we go, that's the Kes diet - now to write the book and make my millions!

Gaps is a dietry plan for specific conditions....not every one can eat everything...though I appreciate that you may be trying to help, but I am familiar with basic nutrition. I am still looking to talk to people who have used the Gaps diet successfully as well as unsuccessfully.

You'll probably have more luck by contacting your child's specialist and asking to speak to a dietician to see if it's the right plan for you. They should be able to put you in touch with other families if they ever have recommended it to anyone.

I have never heard of the GAPS diet before, but for other specific diets like the ketogenic diet for epilepsy you need to be followed by a medical prefessional really carefully the whole time your child is on it.
