The broadband went off.... I am using 3G now and battery power (while it lasts) - WFH :(

ooh! ooh! I know what happened because my husband had to call the fire brigade. ooh! well! what happened is that smoke was coming out of a man hole cover near Lordship Lane on Goodrich Road this afternoon then suddenly flames came out from beneath. The fire brigade arrived within minutes (thanks to a nifty call from my husband)and had to close part of LL and Goodrich Road. My parents live on Goodrich and have no power either and all they have been told is that it should be on soon and that about 150 homes have been affected.

Still not restored. I'm on crystal palace road. The yellow shop is out, the castle is out, meaning plans to have a swift pint or 2 instead of working were scuppered by warm pints :-( might head down to LL for something more rewarding. My mother in law is arriving from paris in a couple of hours and i'm supposed to be cooking dinner tonight. Looks like a trip to franklins is on the cards... (am posting from my phone btw)
There was a fire in the link box on Goodrich road so a few of the surrounding roads (including ours) lost power. Not sure if it's been fully restored or whether we're running on a temporary generator, either way so glad we didn't have to find the candles/torches.......

    • I was a late starter, just 17, when I started to go to pubs regularly.  I'd been bought a drink by a family friend before that.  We had several pubs that catered for under age drinkers, one 15 +, one 16+ etc till we graduated to the 18+ pub and felt really grown up.  And at those young ages alcohol tolerance was low so you could nurse your drink for an hour or so. The curse of binge drinking came later.....
