If we had the space I would get a quote from this guy to build something unique. http://www.freerangeplaygrounds.co.uk/

We have a big sandpit instead which is fab and i think gives more play value than a house but means I spend all summer sweeping sand off the kitchen floor.

I've done quite a bit of reading on Mumsnet and other places about this in trying to decide what to put in our garden as space is tight. A number of people suggested that playhouses didn't get as much play value as other large garden toys. People seemed to find climbing frames, swing sets and trampolines got more use. We're going to go for a small-ish trampoline and swing set I think. Not sure if you've already considered these other options. I've been looking at the Active Toy Company.
