crispy
Does anyone else enjoy the randomness of the P13 as much as I do? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4182-p13/ Share on other sites
Spacey
I particularly enjoy it when there's a vehicle coming in the opposite direction down a side street that's not willing to give way. It makes the journey so much more enjoyable... and long! It's more of a necessity than an enjoyment for me as it's the only route that goes anywhere near my friends house in Rosendale Road, and it's not even that near really. crispy
Yes i agree. It seems to be a bit of an old people's bus ( hope this doesnt offend anyone), but i use it when i have heavy shopping. Just recently though it really is never on time, so its a bit of a game deciding whether to wait another 5 minutes or not, knowing it maybe another 25. sometimes it is even 5 or so minutes early, just thought it seems to be a bit of a "twilight zone bus", not like any other! Dulwich_ Park_ Fairy
I like the way the drivers insist on switching into rally driving mode once they hit those residential street going towards Peckham Rye. As soon as the elderly get on with their shopping at Sainsburys its foot down all the way. jimbo1964
I love it, it could be a Thomas the Tank Engine character. It passes the top of my road and very regular. It's a shame it doesn't go to Denmark Hill station. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4182-p13/#findComment-133288 Share on other sites
seanmlow
This bus is a saviour on a freezing day! However, it seems that just as I begin walking down to LL, it whizzes past and sails into the misty distance! MelbourneGr
Timings for buses? I didn't think there was such a thing. Every bus I get seems to come at a random time. crispy
Maybe that is where i am going wrong, its the only route that i take notice of the 'timings" as there are only 3 an hour, so i guess its back to luck. add's to the quirky fun of the shopping trolly bus... reenie40
I have spent more of my life than I care to calculate waiting for the P13! It does get me all the way from home in East Dulwich to work in New Cross and back and I've read many a good book (sometimes a whole one in one journey) as it weaves it's way around the longest possible route you could possibly take between the two points. I feel ridiculously happy when it arrives when it's supposed to - years of using it have obviously lowered my expections dramatically. *Bob*
On a good day you can be having it large in 'Caesar's Palace' in fifteen minutes flat, door to door.On a bad day you can still be waiting in East Dulwich fifteen minutes after it's supposed to have come. crispy
So reenie and bob ( clearly veterans of the P13), would you say you the 'time-table" is reliable, or do you just wait with baited breath and try your luck? *Bob*
I think they're better than they used to be. But, like all buses, they lull you into a false sense of security and then let you down when you really need to, say, get to the Christian bookshop in Streatham before it closes.
