Miss Tipsy Topple
After the bad service in the Plough the other Sunday we tried the Palmerston last Sunday, again we placed our roast beef orders just after 2pm and our food arrived at 2.20pm. (2 hours quicker than the Plough). The food was far better and the Yorkshire puddings were huge. I would definitely recommend the Palmerston for a Sunday roast. However I will still drink in the Plough, its a lovely pub with friendly bar staff and a good beer garden. karter
We ate in the Plough this Sunday just gone. A sunday roast, it was pretty good but it did take over an hour to come and had to ask the staff where our food was. Very nice pub though, good staff, they just need to sort out this issue with speed of service at the bar and waiting for food. AcedOut
I would refuse to pay for a meal if I had to wait over an hour. That's completely unacceptable. The Bishop used to have a problem with this, but they seem to have sped up their service now. BJL
How on earth can it take over one hour to prepare and serve a Sunday roast lunch? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4177-the-plough-sunday-service/page/2/#findComment-139865 Share on other sites
karter
that is what our group was wondering, there must be a breakdown in communications there. Do you think they are reading this? It may help. It has put me off going to eat there Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4177-the-plough-sunday-service/page/2/#findComment-139871 Share on other sites
owen.g
Went on long walk to the Dulwich Wood House on Sunday 5th October. Usefully it was closed for refurbishment so we walked in the lovely rain back down to the Plough in the hope of a Sunday Roast Rescue.Unfortunately as I was waiting with the other ten or so punters for the tall bloke in the glasses who was serving on his own to come back to my section of the bar, presumably the manager (or maybe just Head Of Disappointment) yelled "No more roasts!" at him. From abut five yards away. He looked a little flustered, poor man.I did wait at the bar for another ten minutes in the vain hope of at least getting a pint but eventually the sugar low had its way, and I dragged my long-suffering significant other out on the street, muttering the likes of "useless place", "never again" etc.My beer-starved mood wasn't helped by said tall gentleman's riposte to my observation that perhaps they needed some more staff working the bar, which was "we need a lot more of a lot of things". Keef
The company that own The Plough and the Dog seem a bit rubbish at staffing, in both places you wait forever for a beer! The Plough stagg that are there are lovely though.
