sooty
Hi, I nominated myself (foolishly)to try and find a venue for my work christmas party this year. Have a mixed group young and older that are looking for somewhere to have a nice dinner and then have a little bit of dancing. Looking in the area as well as, Greenwich, Sydenham, Bromley. Workplace is in Sydenham so trying to find somewhere that is convenient for most people.I know i'm not going to be able to please everyone and not every one has a great deal to spend that time of year so a lot of things more central are out the running but anyone got any suggestions??????? eavesdropper
Why not go to the Ivy House 40 Stuart Rd SE153BE. The function room is free and charming...you could contact bon3yard who is a regular contributor to this forum and provides and delivers home cooked food see if he and Dave the Landlord could come to an agreement about delivering it there. The room is an old 1930's dance hall wooden panelled with mirrors and a beautiful Baroque type stage for anyone who fancies showing off. The lighting is all set up too for all types of moods. Go have a look at it one night, Tuesdays they have Salza, Wednesdays is a casual Mix of Musical Minds and every other thursday is the Language Lounge and Pull the Other One Comedyarts Club. Sue
The Ivy House isn't very easy to get to, though I agree it's a great venue. It's not well situated for public transport. ontheedge
Not that difficult 343 & 484 practically on doorstep Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4172-christmas-party-venue/#findComment-133094 Share on other sites
Sue
No station within reasonable walking distance, only two buses - depends what you mean by good transport links, I suppose.I'd say that wasn't great for London ...... lizzie
What about upstairs at the Magdala, whoops mean the Magnolia. If it still looks like what it used to look like before Rose took over, it's a really nice room. On Lordship Lane so all the buses go past though a bit of a trek from BR stations. SeanMacGabhann
Agreed, it's a good room Lizzie. I have tried to book it for my 40th but it's already booked, so I'm guessing it's a popular choice Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4172-christmas-party-venue/#findComment-133129 Share on other sites
candj
You could try Belair House (is that the name of it now?) on College Road for Christmas party venue. We've been to a wedding reception there and it was a nice venue.Sean, why don't you book St. Thomas Moore Hall - great Guinness and get an Irish band in.... we'll all be there! Sue
St Thomas More Hall would be a great choice for the dancing part, but you have to pay for the hire of the hall and the bar staff, and then get someone in to do the catering I guess ..... candj
We had a kids birthday party at St. Thomas More Hall a while ago - ?75 to hire the hall and they didn't charge for bar staff as it was Jimmy Burns who runs the place behind the bar (but we did give him a drink or two). It's a bit of 70 retro-shock for decor, but great place otherwise and great for transport links, if that's an issue. Sue
Maybe depends on day of the week and time of day you hire it?I think they charge by the hour, too, so may depend how long you want it for.
