Recycling at Sainsbury's

Does anyone know who should be emptying the recycling bins at Sainsbury's it seems the Tetrapack one hasn't been emptied for months!

I got in touch with them and they advised me to "lob the tetrapacks in the bushes".

So that's what I'll do.

I have contacted the Council about this. They have said that as it is private property it is a matter for Sainsbury's. I have complained to Sainsury's about this matter- I would sugeest you do the same.

What I think is also a bit "un-joined up" is that I imagine most visitors to Sainsburys have the ability for the council collect papers and glass for recycling so why not provide smaller collection points for these and a larger one for the items not collected by the council, i.e. the tetrapaks.

I don't think the council collect paper and glass from properties that don't have a wheelie bin and if that is the case, the DKH estate and the estate on Denmark hill will need the recycling point.

I think council estates are covered by the clear bag scheme.

Try Tetrapak not Tetrapack. The kind of cartons orange juice comes in.

Made up of cardboard plus aluminium I think. As they are a composite material I think they are a right pain to recycle. Hence most councils don't do it. I've always wondered when I "recycle" them whether they just get dumped into a landfill anyway.
