And if you want to see the RTA1988, s.170 in its current state, it's at http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?LegType=Act+(UK+Public+General)&title=Road+Traffic+Act&searchEnacted=0&extentMatchOnly=0&confersPower=0&blanketAmendment=0&sortAlpha=0&TYPE=QS&PageNumber=1&NavFrom=0&parentActiveTextDocId=2276534&ActiveTextDocId=2276820&filesize=12249 .

It's changed very little.

Its usually me that is to be honest :)

The liability issue still worries me - everybody seems to say deny you did anything wrong - even if you did - which probably means the bus driver in the original post got a telling off.

Careful here - a friend's father hit a bus. It was only a small hit - details were exchanged and he didn't report it. Later on, one of the passengers decided that their 'neck hurt' (smelling potential damages) and the cops came around because he hadn't reported an accident where there was an injury - even though it wasn't apparent at the time. The police didn't end up pursuing it, but they looked for a while like they were going charge him with not complying.

Also ALL advice says NEVER adnit liability - if you do your insurers might not pay out.

Yep - says in big letters in every motoring policy I've ever had.

WHO exactly at Arriva did you speak to? As the bus is question was the 176 you should contact the bus garage concerned (Norwood) and speak to the garage manager.

Also, now I'm hoping you don't take this the wrong way, have you thought of your approach and attitude in this matter? By name calling because you didnt get the response you wanted makes me think your initial approach wasn't the most friendliest in the first place.

Threatening this that and the other doesn't always mean you'll get what you think you deserve.

Hi,

If the driver admitted the collision was her fault, and you have the registration of the vehicle, the operating company are duty bound to give you the information you require.

I would advise that you pursue this. If this goes to court, and I would recomend that you insist that it does, the driver will have to swear that the evidence that she gives is true.

You might want to also consult an accident investigator to determine the damage and the driver responsible. The cost of the investigator is recoverable as legitable costs.

Good luck.

kind regards,

Libra Carr.
