Help-Ma-Boab
MrB, forgo the fly tieing workshop at your gaff and install your own boozer. I'd happily frequent it. Otta
I was thinking the castle. I Know it has the footy, but it's not usually rammed and too noisy to chat. MrBen
I think the Hermits Cave or Blythe Hill were the answers. But if I also added "easily walkable" those two would have been ruled out. It just hit me that weekends now in SE22 pubs are now ALL pretty much similar food and family orientated target market. But they're also emptier during the week than I remember? Ah well... david_carnell
A, I believe, unique feature of the Blythe is that to get to the back room you have to, and are permitted, to walk through the bar.Neat-o. Mick Mac
Basically what you wanted was a pub that's not doing well enough to be v busy on a Sunday afternoon. Not too many of those around. Perhaps we should be grateful. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41242-dream-pub-for-last-sunday/page/2/#findComment-720587 Share on other sites
MrBen
Er no. What I meant was a pub that was doing well- thats a prerequisite- but in a different way. New Girl
I could have done with that pub last Saturday. Ruggers, ruggers, ruggers every where I went. I just wanted a quiet pint. MrBen
I last went to The Blythe Hill Tavern when DC was in shorts (so about 8 years ago). I recall it having serious grey haired Irish barmen with black trousers and white shirts, amazing Guinness and lots of lone drinkers quietly at their pints, horse racing quietly on in the background. It was like another world. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41242-dream-pub-for-last-sunday/page/2/#findComment-720625 Share on other sites
bob
Still like that now MB but sadly the older grey hair'd bar man passed away last year.
