yeknomyeknom
We live on Jennings. The last two nights when we have turned on the hob rings, the gas has smelled really strong. The actual gas itself. It's nothing on the rings that is causing this. The gas smell fills the house and rises to its strongest up in the bedrooms where it collects. I know they add a smell to gas so you can smell a leak. I was thinking maybe the smell they have added is strong at the minute just? Has anyone else noticed this? computedshorty
Have you looked under the hob there could be some thing dislodged or disconected, I seem to remember that you were having your vent changed is it clear and extracting. You can buy a gas detector not a smoke alarm. This one costs about ?11 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41146-our-hob-gas-smells-does-yours/#findComment-719283 Share on other sites
yeknomyeknom
We called out a gas engineer and there is no gas or carbon leak so no idea what is causing the odd smell. But not dangerous it seems, so can sleep well. bwallace
Have you been doing some painting with oil based paints? Eg: gloss or satinwood. This starts emitting very strong gas aromas when the hobs are switched on. Totally normal and not harmful. Just open a window when cooking.
