niall
all the best to those who traded therein, I bought a killer jacket from the vintage guy. Pricey, but they were well chosen pieces. LauraHW
This may be too simplistic but there are lots of empty shops along Nunhead Lane. Surely rents there are going to be alot less than in East Dulwich and it's walking distance from Lordship Lane. BigED
It's quite a loss to the area. Still, maybe it would be a good opportunity for M&S. Or Waitrose. treehugger
Is Gregg the watchmender? If not, does anyone have a number for him. He is so brilliant. Zenoria
I was so sad to hear this news. I live close to ED Warehouse and it's a gorgeous little place that'll be much missed. The traders there were so kind and helpful when we were moving in.Since I live so close by, I'm obviously concerned about what'll take the space. I'll be watching this thread closely! unlurked
I hope something worthwhile replaces the warehouse. However I won't miss it as was full of tat IMO, more like a jumble sale, more suited to Peckham in an arch. philosophie
I'm really going to miss this place: such friendly service and so full of character. It just simply added charm to the area. These rising rents make my blood boil. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41090-ed-warehouse-closing-down/page/2/#findComment-719884 Share on other sites

Glad you liked the shop but as quality goods/businesses there wasn't any, just generally stall type tat akin to the tat on NorthX . Don't get confused with 'nice' stall holders and decent goods/services. Barber will probably turn it into a school now anyway as part of his 10yr ED domination plan. And no, I don't want that either. Or a chain. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41090-ed-warehouse-closing-down/page/2/#findComment-719943 Share on other sites
pinecone
I'm going there today to see if I can find a vintage leather coat and cap. And, yes it will be greatly missed, both in terms of its stock, and its addition to the area. :-( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41090-ed-warehouse-closing-down/page/2/#findComment-719973 Share on other sites
eddie
The closing down sale at ED Warehouse is well under way. Lots of stock already gone. Do pop in over the weekend if you get a chance and check out some bargains. PandG
So sad about these shops closing due to stupid hikes in rents, it is necessary that any area has thriving independent shops and services otherwise !!!! I just hope that the quote from Parkhill's website that they have "completely changed the face of a high street in Lordship lane East Dulwich" doesn't blow up in their faces and LL becomes another suburban ghost town - support the local shops and services! first mate
Hearing the kind of rent being asked for it seems that the doors are being opened for more chains/intensive developments.
