Nice walks - possibly along Green Chain

Hi all,

We wanted to go for a nice walk in a couple of weeks - a group of adults and one toddler who will be in the sling if not toddling (so no pram to worry about). We were looking for somewhere we can reach by train and which will have a nice pub/restaurant we can go to afterwards. Most of us are quite rubbish at getting out of London (and I must admit, I haven't been for a walk in the country in a very long time!) so any advice would be very gratefully received. We're planning on a Saturday in early February if that makes any difference.

May need to actually buy some boots/wellies...!

Beckenham place park in lewisham.

There is a train station directly at the woods.

I think you can also link it with ladywell fields.

We went around park and golf court, less park more nature

and it felt we were far away from london.

Take a look at the Time Out guides.

There are many routes planned to take you [part way by public transport, then walking] out of the city with a pub/meal as destination.

Several walking clubs too, if you are keen.

Morden Hall Park? Easy to get to by public transport and it has quite an extensive network of paths. It's not really the countryside or out of London.

Yep look at the time out guide to walks around london. Plenty of options there, all accessible by train. To make things easy look at kent and sussex, they nearly all go from london bridge.

We often go through Sydenham woods (entry via cox's walk) and end up at Dulwich Woodhouse.

It's a lovely 30-40 minute walk, not too difficult and food at the Woodhouse is lovely!
