Anothe flat tyre around L Lane

It seems that myself and my colleagues are constantly getting flat tyres around L Lane (Archdale, Nutfield, Lacon Rd).

Has anyone else had this recently? There are a lot of road works going on so thought it was this. However, I was threatened by someone who told me on Nutfield Rd he would slash my tyres if I parked in front of his house again. I did remind him it was free parking but he didn't seem to care. A closer inspection of the tyre does look like a slashing!

Adys Road and Ondine Road suffered some last week. Think it was random vandalism rather than targetted.

Sounds like your 'neighbour' is a knob. Isn't there some invisible paint one can get that colours the hands? Plaster on your tyres, wait for it to happen again and then contact the police.

I was quite shocked that he said that. We all know what a pain it is to get a flat tyre. I understand the parking is annoying round there, but why should people get told off when it is free parking! You can only park on LL for 30 mins so where else can people park really? Also, the movement of the cars is quite regular, so I am sure no one is having to park too far away from their beloved front door!

Perhaps, but does that give someone free reign to slash tyres then? Or the fact that my car is loud?

I know you all hate us, but it doesn't give people the right to vandalise the cars. We have had slashed tyres, headlights ripped out, roofs slashed. Not really on is it?

professordingo - if you get your tyres slashed, shall the person defend it by saying 'are you a L Lane shopper, perchance?' How foolish.

Woh woh, I didn't comment on whether it was right to slash your tyres or not, personally I think it's a very underhand way to deal with things. If someone has a problem, for whatever reason, I think they should address it directly, without recourse to vandalism. And I didn't comment on whether I have any personal views on estate agents, either, and slightly rankle at the implication. I was simply asking whether you are an estate agent, because it struck me that that might be the reason behind it, especially since some of the cars are very 'visible'. What I meant was, if you are estate agents and in agency cars, then it may well not be simply random or accidental. I wasn't in any way defending tyre-slashing, or denigrating anyone.

EA are in the area to make money.There is no other reason for their presence.They cannot even pretend to contribute anything to the ED / LL community Consider the damage to your cars as part of the experience - an evil you have to accept to make your precious money- an expense.

Most people view your kind in the same light as a Leech - expect that leeches have some small benefit to humanity.

No one has the right to vandalise cars true, but then again, no one has the right to clog the streets and make our lives harder, fill the air with exhaust fumes and make crossing the road an infintitely more dangerous experience.

Oddly enough, initial formal & civilised contact with the EA about their cars clogging the streets has produced a an answer on most occasions, the shorthand of which is " f*ck off "

Sometimes people have little recourse than to go for the underhand option to show their feelings. Its not cricket I know, but It is completely understandable given the arrogant nature of theses businesses

I have had 3 flats in the last 18 months at ?200 a pop....run flat tyres. I get along very well with my neighbours and screws have been found imbedded in the tyres, perhaps it is just that there is so much building work in the area and it's just coiincidence.

But I don't really get the need for these EA cars. All the trips are to extremely nearby locations. Why not cycle? It would be faster and a whole lot cheaper. Which I'd say would be a consideration right now. How about a bit of environmental awareness guys?

hmmm. That explains a lot. Got a flat tyre parking outside Blackwater Street and was mystified to find a screw embedded so deeply in the tread that I thought a bit strange that it could somehow have lodged itself at such a perfect angle to go right through the tyre.

Have other cars nearby been slashed? How many on ondine and Adys road were done? and which end?

louisiana - I agree that Estate Agents could definitely use their cars less, however they will often show customers around 3 or 4 properties in one appointment, so the car does have its place.

Having less estate agents would be a more workable solution that trying to switch them over to bicycles.

i have noticed the same problem as i just repaired my tyre the weekend and a massive nail around the goodrich/ barry road

i have noticed a lot of building work going on and see quite a lot rubbish especially when a skip has just been removed

My neighbour's car had three tyres slashed in Adys Rd (just opp school) and he spoke to someone in Ondine Rd, just round the corner who had the same done to his car.

I don?t know which would be worse, going to see a house in the back of a 2 door car, that you have to squeeze into, while the estate agent charges around the suburbs or getting a lift there on his handlebars.

Not sure which laws you think are in force in this country but I am pretty sure we ARE legally entitled to own and drive cars in the UK.

I think the EAs should band together and (a) issue each staffer with a bike and (b) have a rack of collective bikes for EA customer use (much as many organisations have other countries). Cycling around the 'hood would be a way better method of getting the feel of the local streets than zooming around in petrol wagons.

I am not surprised you have had your tyres slashed to be honest. When people feel powerless against the tasteless lifestyle marketing which is forced upon them by companies such as yours, how else can they protest?
