There is a GP practice within the hospital. You can see the entrance from the road. Or the one on Melbourne Grove ? East Dulwich Station end. MGMP = 020-8693-1992:

Whatever you do, don't register at Melbourne Grove practice. Totally unprofessional, in my opinion. Have had numerous unsatisfactory consultations with GPs there. Pretty sure they have lost my medical records as have been enquiring after them for 6 months and no response. Oh and it says 'enquires' over the reception desk. Rant over. Sorry!

My experience has been a massive deterioration in levels of service from local GP practices above in past 4 years or so. Something is wrong.

It's been so bad that for the time poor, private GP's are on the up. As I go once a year, I pay ?60 and get seen instantly for up to 45 mins. Sad but what can you do?

Mr Ben - would you mind telling me which private GP you go to? Last year I paid for a private medical as I wasn't getting the right checks I wanted at local GPs. If there was a private GP I could go to, that would be excellent, and ?60 is far cheaper than the circa ?300 I piad for the full medical. I know whats wrong me, if that makes sense :) Can they do prescriptions? Another issue at the moment for me :(

    • That explanation sounds highly unlikely!  Surely the "days of the week" plates must be a standard size. I know Royal Mail often appears incompetent, but it  couldn't be that stupid, surely. Was it 1 April?!
    • Looking for a short length of electric (twin & earth)  lighting cable. Most likely there could be some in a skip near you??
    • Southwark's recycling guidance says to put shredded paper in the blue bin in a paper envelope or "small box". I've got far too much of it for that  (confidential stuff going back decades) - thanks to the EDF member who kindly gave me a shredder! It would be a "massive box". I have barely started  the shredding, and I've already got an extremely large bagful.   I've read online that you can put it into  large clear plastic bags in the bin for paper,  provided you  clearly label it "shredded paper" and it is obvious what it is. Does anybody know if Southwark would accept it like that? Alternatively, can anyone make use of it for animal bedding or packaging material or adding to  compost?
    • I'm happy to report that some foxgloves are now looking great in my garden. The bees are loving them. Also managed to grow some corn poppies from seed. I've left some decaying logs in the corner so maybe there are some stag beetles there.
