Guest
Best place for a sunday roast is the crown and greyhound in dulwich village. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/40-sunday-lunch/#findComment-249 Share on other sites
NickW
I had a good sunday lunch at 'Bar Story' by peckham rye station. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/40-sunday-lunch/#findComment-288 Share on other sites
Dan-the-man
There's a few decent options.Herne Tavern I've been to a few times. It's got a good garden so can accommodate a big group quite easily.Great Exhibition is good too.Would also recommend 'Crown and Greyhound' in Dulwich village. malumbu
You can try the Rosendale in West Dulwich, less crowded than the Dog (C & G). One of the best places us the Barbur in Honour Oak, it will cost an arm and a leg and I expect the marquee is still up. Sparsh in Forest Hill is wonderful but small with no outside but worth it when weather gets cooler.Kartuli on LL us in my list of places to try. East Dulwich Tavern is good value Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/40-sunday-lunch/#findComment-1590313 Share on other sites
MrsR
The Sunday dinner looked nice when I visited The Angel Oak, Peckham Rye. I intend to try it out this weekend. Sue
My partner, niece and I had an absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch at Franklins the weekend before last.https://www.franklinsrestaurant.com/She had roast beef and we had a cauliflower dish that sounds a bit boring but had me practically licking the plate it was so delicious.Hers was so much she couldn't finish it (and she is a hearty eater). We also had an absolutely excellent dessert between the three of us.I know this sounds a bit over the top, but I really can't recommend it highly enough. It wasn't cheap (housewarming celebration for my niece who has just moved to a house share in London) but it was honestly worth every penny. We had a nice bottle of wine as well, and the service was excellent. We sat in the front bar, which has a nice atmosphere, but there is a proper restaurant area at the back, plus tables on the pavement outside.ETA: The worst Sunday lunch I have ever had in my life was at the Crown and Greyhound. In fact it was one of the worst meals I have ever had in my life🙄 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/40-sunday-lunch/#findComment-1590323 Share on other sites
apbremer
The Rosendale pub was (is?) offering half price meals this month. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/40-sunday-lunch/#findComment-1590327 Share on other sites

Sue
I have only just noticed that the original post was from 2006, so the Sunday lunch get together for ten people was SIXTEEN YEARS AGO 🤣How (and why?) has somebody resurrected a sixteen year old post?! Rockets
Now I am intrigued - did Paul find somewhere good? Is he still in the area - does he have any recommendations 16 years on!!! ;-)P.S. A nice walk up Greendale followed by Sunday lunch at the Crooked Well - in case anyone cared for my today recommendation! ;-)And the throwback one would have been the Bishop when Scott owned it! Administrator Joe Posted August 17, 2022 Administrator Share Posted August 17, 2022 Its amazing to think the forum has been going since 2006 and we still have threads in the database from back then! Before Facebook, Twitter... anything you take for granted today.Long may it live. Dan-the-man
According to the above timings, they suggest I (inadvertently) did, as the gap from 2006 to now is broken (apparently) by me.But I'm sure I saw it appear as a new thread which I was responding to. There's no way I'd go back to 2006 (before I even moved here).Admin - perhaps something wrong with site which is causing things like this to reappear and seem new? I think by slating both Franklins and Chez Bruce in a single sentence you have demonstrated that your view on restaurants should be treated with real caution. Unless, of course this was a (well-disguised) comedy message. In any event I am sure Tim, Rod and the team will be delighted to be ranked over Chez Bruce! All restaurants have off days - I've had excellent and terrible meals at Le Gavroche, last week I was served raw pork at a world famous restaurant in Provence. To go back on topic, my favourite Sunday lunch is Manuel's at Gipsy Hill Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/40-sunday-lunch/#findComment-1590771 Share on other sites
