The best offer to insure a ?400 fiesta was a premium of ?1000!

Are they absolutely insane?

I'm 29, clean as a whistle, 5 years of driving, 5 years NCB doing roughly 4 thousand annual mileage (social only).

The only change I've had to my policy was a move from SE9 (Chistlehurst/Elmstead Woods) to SE15.

My car is literally a little runaround that has a value that doubles with a full tank of petrol inside.

Has anyone else seen an increase like this?

Have you tried it with full insurance quote, not third party, fire and theft. For some bizarre reason it's usually cheaper to do the former.

If you can add a named driver over 25 (a friend will do) it can bring the price down.

Also, go for as high an excess as you can afford (eg, 500/1000).

Hi, yeah these quotes were fully comp. it seems, like you've said anything 3rd party just increases it further.

It is the post code that's making all the difference. Out of curiosity I tried my previous address then low and behold, it's around the ?400 mark.

I should have known that living in Peckham has a detrimental impact on the cost of owning a car.

Yep, moving from Beckenham to SE15 a few years ago made my car insurance jump by about that.... Strangely enough - last year it actually came down? Try a lot of price comparison sites (they are a major pain, but you can save a lot compared to renewal offers). Good Luck! mx

    • In answer to your question Pugwash, the variety of foods that they offer both in canned goods and fresh. i personally no longer am a Sainsbury customer after years - feel that the quality of both their fruit, veg and fresh products ie meat, chicken, fish is not of a quality that they use to be. Agree with Sue that Co- Op does not make for a pleasant shopping experience.  On the subject of Waitrose not coming to ED - one can only assume that market research has been done by the company which makes it a non starter which, when you think about it is strange as all the big contenders are here.. Perhaps the powers to be have never heard of ED!! Maybe a Lidl or Aldi will rear their heads but somehow can’t see it as space is way to small. Really is strange that Waitrose is a non arrival - never ceases to amaze me how many eateries are in Lordship Lane alone and the majority all survive.
