Lollipop
I have two dogs which I walk daily in either Dulwich or Peckham Park. I like to think I am a responsible dog owner. This morning in Dulwich Park my dogs were 'bothered' by a energetic husky whose owner had walked off talking on the phone. What began as play became body butting my puppy into the bushes (at this point, she was scared and trying to escape). The man was too far away to hear me call him and completely oblivious to his dog's behaviour. Luckily someone stopped to help me and got the owner back (by the way, in all the chaos I didn't get a chance to say thanks!).While I was trying to deal with that, two women walked past with three dogs. They were so busy chatting they failed to notice one of their dogs do a poo in full view.I have owned dogs for more than 20 years and I do feel let down by episodes like this. If I let mine off the lead (which I do), I accept I am responsible for their behaviour. I do wish other dog owners would do the same. uncleglen
I have noticed that there is more poo on the pavements during the dark evenings as well. I am not a dog owner and do not particularly like dogs or cats and feel that the more overcrowded we become the more these unsociable activities will occur. pommie
I have noticed a lot of people just pretend to not see their dogs messing so that they don't have to pick it up!! Disgusting, the pavements are getting worse!! KidKruger
Walking up Whateley Rd early evening there was such a colossal dog poo, I thought a couple of huge dogs must have shat in exactly the same spot. This wasn't mini-dog poo, so you'd think some dork was walking a mega-dog, in which case how could that person fail to notice it laying a cable the size of Texas.Astounding selfishness. first mate
rahrahrah Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> keeping a dog in the city is generally antisocialThat's a bit OTT. Many would argue the opposite. As ever, the minority that don't pick up are a pain for the rest of us, including the dog owners, not forgetting it was a dog owner that started this thread. Huggers
I was agreeing with dog poo picking up not dog ban! As a dog owner myself, my observations of non-picker-uppers in the street are normally off lead dogs of a muscular variety. I once said something to an owner but probably wouldn't again with the abuse I got.On the spot fines and proper wardens would be the only deterrent and dogs on lead rule in the STREET. Then the owners can't plead ignorance of not seeing him do it.I occasionally cannot find my dogs poo in the autumn park leaves and if this happens, I pick someone else's up!However also totally agree with OP post about absent minded owners not keeping an eye on their dogs! uncleglen
When the children were young I sometimes came back from a walk and either the pushchair wheels had poo on or one of the kids had walked in it. At the time I thought I would save up some really stinky nappies, follow a miscreant home and dump the nappies on their doorstep. Too busy to get round to it though, but it's an idea. LadyDeliah
Can't admin just link these numerous anti-dog threads into one big dog/shit bashing thread?Countless duplicate threads moaning about the same thing over and over must be against some forum rule or other. susan terry
Banning dogs in towns is ridiculously extreme. Just pick up the poo and don't get annoyed if someone points this out to you! first mate
uncleglen, wouldn't it just be easier to ask them to pick up?Don't know if you were in Peckham Rye yesterday morning but someone had dumped and strewn toilet paper and tissues all around and inside the Japanese summerhouse as well as into the stream. A fair bit was scrunched up so had possibly been used.
