eberg
Is it just me or are the workers at East Dulwich Deli as rude and ignorant as I think they are? And are the prices daft? lightweight
I have only been in there twice in about 8 years and have found the service adequate. I do recall the price of bread being something that I couldn't comprehend as possible for a loaf. However they always look busy when I walk past so I guess they don't need to try too hard? Didine
Very surprised with these bad comments for the Deli: I always feel welcome by the workers; I go there on average once a week and their products are good; I love their brownies, their quiches, the walnut and raisin bread and the olive breads are great. I wanted some foie gras for Christmas and they gave me a call once it has arrived. Compared to other local shops, prices for the cakes, quiches and breads seem ok to me. For the rest I cannot comment as I go somewhere else. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39623-east-dulwich-deli/#findComment-705871 Share on other sites

85volga
I really like the Ed Deli, and used to go there often, however the Southwark hygiene rating has put me off (rating of 1 of 5 ) I would hate to think of what the state of the kitchen is at the rear , or perhaps is it based on the food handling on the front counter?. either way less inclined to visit these days Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39623-east-dulwich-deli/#findComment-705975 Share on other sites
Grainne17
I stopped going due to the poor hygeine rating, put me right off! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39623-east-dulwich-deli/#findComment-705987 Share on other sites
Jeremy
You should let it bother you so much. Most people's own kitchens would probably get 1/5, I'm guessing you still eat home cooked food. dds29
I saw East Dulwich Deli advertised for sale in an Estate Agents in Lambeth yesterday... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39623-east-dulwich-deli/#findComment-706012 Share on other sites
edcam
Yes, the hygiene rating was very offputting, especially for somewhere charging such premium prices. Jeremy, I don't sell food from my kitchen. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39623-east-dulwich-deli/#findComment-706038 Share on other sites
StraferJack
But why do people care about the ratings so muchIf they didn't exist you would still go, buy, eat and be fineJust what do you think is going to happen to you if you go to a low rated joint?Cue several posts about vermin wee and what not. Which is probably untrue. But if you don't know and you don't suffer, what's the worry? KidKruger
My kitchen is a hovel and I knock out lovely gear for family and friends. All this hygiene stuff is a bit overrated IMO. 'bout now
Not a bit KK, massively so. Hygiene ratings are for those that demand antibiotics for every ailment presented to their Doctor.I won't shop in the ED deli because of what the OP said. Jeremy
LadyNorwood Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> "You should let it bother you" or "You shouldn't> let it bother you"??The latter! I just think that its not a big problem, when most of the food we eat is not subject to the same scrutiny.
