????
Woman,s career and social life ruined by one idiotic tweet....only reinforces my hatred of twitter, very few redeeming features to make up for this sort of rubbish, and shows why giving people a global platform to spout their rubbishy stuff and Ill thought out opinions is idiotic...empowerment or just enough rope to hang a lot of people or just spread rubbish IMO Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39613-think-before-you-tweet/#findComment-705743 Share on other sites
Otta
Tend to agree RE Twitter. But then again I'm a Facebook fiend so can't really talk.Twitter fans seem to somehow look down their noses at FB as if it's somehow immature in comparison, but I don't really get that. Loz
A stupid tweet. But an unbelievably stupid tweet from someone in corporate communications at the company that owns 'BlackPeopleMeet.com, a dating site for African-Americans'. Oh and the teenage sensibilities ."Would you like to be my friend?"'Just saying. Loz
The usefulness of Facebook has an inverse correlation to the number of your friends with babies less than four years old. No, your baby sleeping is not news, even on Facebook's low scale. StraferJack
True loz, but some of us only post those pics for the benefit of family living far awayGranted, that still leaves plenty of people just showing off but heyI've never heard of any snobbery about Facebook v twitter but all I know is I far prefer twitter because I can curate my feed. I found out about that woman's post on here before I did on twitter Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39613-think-before-you-tweet/#findComment-705779 Share on other sites

LadyDeliah
Twitter is about who you follow. I'm into news, law and politics so don't get much of the personal stuff on twitter. I get a lot of interesting (to me anyway) information in my twitter feed, whereas for me, Facebook is just to keep in touch with my globally dispersed family and friends. newboots
I quite like facebook. Not sure what ????'s post is all about. Someone in such a senior job in social media really should be wise to the risks of posting sloppily on Twitter. Twirly
Actually, it could be a good thing that someone with such a dubious attitude has outed herself and effectively removed herself from any position of power or influence... ????
Politics on Twitter is a joke surely = people tweeting their own political prejudices as far as I can see! not much debate just a propaganda tool for disseminating er propoganda alot of absolute lefty garbage on there most of the time that I can see! but I guess that,s my fault for following the wrong people ; ) Owen, Harri and brand's crap being retweeted around the cognescenti, Isn,t doing much for improving my knowledge or views on anything....just reinforcing my prejudice that it's a place for branding and propoganda not debate..... Jah Lush
Putting the Farcebook/Twit debate aside. The fact is that if that is what she wrote she is a fecking stupid ignorant racist cow and deserves to be sacked. BrandNewGuy
But she should be judged for what she does not who she 'is'. If someone is an 'ignorant racist cow' should she be sacked regardless of what she says or does? StraferJack
If your job is managing communications/branding/customer relations then denigrating anyone is likely to cost you your job because you clearly aren't very good at it, racist or not.Dave in finance behind me at work might utter similar views, on social media but given he isn't present As a Representative of anyone other than himself I doubt there would be a shitstorm or sacking Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39613-think-before-you-tweet/#findComment-705835 Share on other sites
BrandNewGuy
Agreed. I was just suggesting that being an 'ignorant racist cow' is not in itself a sackable offence. BrandNewGuy
Neither do I, but an 'ignorant racist cow' could be someone who said non-threateningly, in the course of a conversation, "Actually, I do believe that some races are superior to others." If there was no evidence that the belief directly affected her work or her relations to others, should she be sacked? This is why I was very uncomfortable with the "sack BNP members" thing a few years ago, repulsive though I think the BNP's politics are. Jah Lush
You're nitpicking BNG. As StraferJack has so succinctly put it if you work in that lines of business you shouldn't be spouting that sort of stuff on social media.
