eddie
I suspect that you have just posted your friends pin number on here. Might be worth changing it. It can happen that when a sales assistant puts the amount into the machine, they forget to press enter and then the customer puts in their pin number, thus the large amount that appears. Its no excuse but people should always check the amount. Alan Medic
You are silly enough to write about something in Nunhead in this thread where technically it will be deleted as it's not ED specific. ken78
so when I read about nunhead on THIS FORUM its wrong, and a lot of Dulwich do come to nunhead to shop. they don't stay in Dulwich, look at the forum about PECKHAM RYE LANE is that in Dulwich ?? and I think that at this time of year we should all beware of this kind of thing, or am I wrong ?? so when we let the Dulwich forum readers know about ANY THING ABOUT THATS NOT IN DULWICH BEWARE YOU WILL BE CALLED SILLY BYAlan Medic. ken78
moved post to the lounge ?? i think it comes under general ed issues as this might be an issue, if your card was card cloned how would you feel, this could have happened as on the transaction it had the account number and the pin number ??? TOLD THE POLICE and they are looking in to it. so Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39600-card-fraud-using-pin/#findComment-705812 Share on other sites
Alan Medic
I don't make the rules. This tread is now in the Lounge, presumably as it's not ED specific. You are now unaware of any problem..Now any rouge trader (and this may of been an innocent error) will now have your card number, pin, and security code.A new card can be cloned and you get stuffed.Simples..DulwichFox Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39600-card-fraud-using-pin/#findComment-705875 Share on other sites
Loz
Ahhh, good spot, Foxy. Missed that one. That's a big spot, because you can reconstruct the data on the mag stripe of a card with most of the info that is on the card itself - it only holds 80 characters. Not usable in the UK (as you mist have a chip), but could be used overseas in a country that does not mandate chips (like the USA). unlurked
It's a newsagents. No big purchases. Pay with cash, no scam or anything else plus you don't keep other customers waiting. LadyDeliah
Thanks for posting this. It's not something I would have thought about and I don't usually check the amount when I press the enter button, after I've entered my pin. I'll make sure I check it in future though.
