I am up for something on the 7th. Shall we meet in the Victoria Inn. I think it's going to rain on Friday so it may be good to head there for say 3 / 3.30. We can let the kids play in their playroom and have a drink/coffee. (I know in practice it probably won't be as easy or relaxing as that but it's worth a try!)

I guess the other option if it rains is Peckham Soft play? Happy if people have a better suggestion

No worries. Whoever gets there first lets try to get the long table near the screen that shows the playroom. Or at least somewhere near there. We can take turns going into the playroom to stop the kids fighting!!!

Looking forward to it

Hi Summer babies,

I'm just popping in to let you know that ED Birthtalk - the positive birth discussion group for ED is meeting this coming Thursday (6th) from 10am - 12pm. It's free, babies/children are welcome/it's NOT a 'natural birth' group. Our ethos is 'positivity about birth' and our discussions centre around that. This means all kinds of birth, water birth, vaginal birth, assisted birth and caesarean birth - ALL types.

If anyone is around & fancies a cuppa, biscuit and chat with other interested people about all things birth then please feel free to PM me for the venue. We'd love to see you :)

I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on tomorrow afternoon. My daughter (and me mildly) has Hand Foot and Mouth at the moment and, while i don't think she is still contagious, i don't want to take the risk with a lot of pregnant women and children around.

Unfortunately i can't make 23rd either but will keep my eyes peeled for the next meet up.

Sophie

Earlier I was going to say Dexter & I are up for tmrw still, but during today we both seem to have developed lovely colds, complete with snotty noses so I think we should give it a miss as well to avoid spreading our germs around.

We're around in a couple of weeks though & should be germfree by then! Hopefully I'm around on the 23rd but not sure yet.

Hope to see people soon, Emma

    • My wife has been complaining about this actually; we are on Crawthew Grove, it started a few years back, then seemed to stop, starting up again circa last September. I'm normally at work around the time she hears it most - between 11pm and 2AM, but even when I'm home I just can't hear it, which she just can't believe, so I guess it depends how sensetive your hearing is... Would love to get to the bottom of it too!
    • Perhaps like Malumbu they compost their food waste?
    • Obviously, but they may be wrong. Not only are we coming up to another population renewal drop after the continuing effects of the baby bulge generation enter a trough,  - secondary schools are closing across many boroughs - but birth rates in the UK continue to fall (not just absolute births which are also falling as a function of the bulge unwind, but births per head). And foreign student numbers are also falling. Additionally the costs of being a student are rising, which encourages more students to go to universities close enough that they don't need accommodation but can live at home. Bubbles burst, and this may be one of them.
    • Exactly. There's also a much easier way to find out how demand and supply are interacting for student housing: look at how goddamn expensive it is! It's a huge barrier to entry for students who want to study away from home. If the price of student housing cratered, this would be great news for everyone except property developers because it would cut housing costs for students and reduce some demand on "mainstream" housing in the wider market (because students won't be looking for houseshares). These property developers (and their financiers) aren't shovelling millions of pounds into student housing because they think the market is going to crash and they're going to lose money! And if they do, it's not really my problem...
