El Pibe
I just got a server error. I can't for a second believe the EDF slashdot effect brought it down!!Though I see that the reason for the Satoshi's current divisibility seems to be because of processor architecture (or more likely os) limitationshttps://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Divisibility_extension Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39544-bitcoin/page/2/#findComment-705531 Share on other sites

Bitcoins can be divided up and trade into as small of pieces as one wants, so no matter how valuable Bitcoins become, one can trade them in practical quantities"From the FAQs of the same source: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39544-bitcoin/page/2/#findComment-705545 Share on other sites
El Pibe
"the Satoshi is just a reflection of the limitation in the datatype of current implementations"which I think was my original point.Anyway, I've learnt a lot more about this bitcoin malarky thanks to this, so for that at least, cheers. binary_star
Well you asked : "how the hell does infinite divisibility work" so for anyone else who wasn't sure, it works the same way any currency works....divide until your heart's content but at some point it wont be worth the effort. ????
I,d say yes if you are happy with reasonably high risk and have a few hundred quid to spare. Normal caveats. Salsaboy
I'll avoid them then. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39544-bitcoin/page/2/#findComment-705854 Share on other sites
binary_star
My partner bought ?70 worth that made ?20 in a couple of weeks then the value dropped again then it went up again. We can spend more on a 'swift half' down the pub, so it's not exactly an investment but you don't need a few hundred quid to just have a go! If you want to make (or lose) serious money then yeah.Another option is mining - well beyond me but I have a friend who does it successfully: http://qz.com/154877/by-reading-this-page-you-are-mining-bitcoins/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39544-bitcoin/page/2/#findComment-705932 Share on other sites
