Just a warning - we left a bag to be picked up today for charity. About 10 minutes ago (6.00ish) my partner told me that the bag had been picked up. I looked outside to see a woman (about late 30's/early 40's - long straggly dark hair) in an alley rooting out the contents and discarding stuff all over the alley. I sent my partner outside to get the bag back from her and she claimed that she 'wasn't doing no 'arm' - no harm apart from stealing from a charity and throwing a contents of a bag all over the street.

I left the bag outside all day yesterday for one charity to claim and all day today without any charity picking it up. Last week I left a bag outside all day Monday (for a different charity) without it being picked up. The bag went Wednesday - at the time I was pleased but now wonder if the contents are in a bin somewhere discarded by the charity bag thief - and there was some good stuff in it that I hoped would bring money to charity.

I guess I'll carry my bags to the charity shops from now on.

Thanks very much to this woman for making me doubt even more..........

I have seen this nutter, she was outside scope near goose green roundabout she was going through every bag and just leaving such a mess over the street. So thoughfully I pointed this out to her....just got this daft look as if she was in her own world.....so made a sarcastic comment and left....if you see her watch out for all your charity stuff.

Thats them.!

They will have your hanging baskets and even your milk.

On another note, most of the "through the door" charity bags ,are in fact not actualy what they seem. They are just profit making companies who re sell.Read the small print on these dodgy leaflets and bags.

    • A reminder of the current situation. Covid-19 Eligibility: https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/ Availability: NHS are no longer running their own appointment-making system. This winter's version is still available from pharmacies until 31 January.   They may have individual availability times, see:  https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy-offering-walk-in-COVID-19-vaccination-services Flu Flu vaccinations (65+, pregnant, higher risk, or private) are available from some pharmacies.  See https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy-that-offers-free-flu-vaccination for details of eligibility and a link to a pharmacy finder. Some may offer appointments: you may have to dig down into their individual listing. RSV Currently eligible/recommended: If pregnant (at 28+ weeks), or age 75-79, or became 80 on or after 1 Sept 2024. This has been available from GP practices.  I was offered one by text.  When I responded a week later they didn't have any available but gave me one by appointment three weeks later. https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/rsv-vaccine/ Other vaccines https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/
    • I get that they're being pollarded. This estate was built in the 60's and so I'm guessing that they're around 60 years old.  Nothing wrong with that but even when they re-grow they're hardly going to be the most attractive. Y'know just musing on improving the look of our public spaces.
    • Pretty repetitive on the transport section.  I like a good discussion and this does raise wider issues.  I miss banks more than post office branches which tend to be part of other stores.  A few other threads on the Lounge, come on over.  Or 🐕 💩
