Compared to 18 years ago when I moved here as a whippersnapper this place SE22 ROCKS !!

Maybe I've grown into it but it's also changed massively, both in terms of the demographic and what's on.

Shame Sainsbury's closed down all the original butchers, bakers, grocers, fishshops but with local interest there are now replacements for them which probably offer more choice than the originals (I do miss old 'Dave the Butcher' on LL though !).

The one thing I was bothered about until a couple of years ago was that I always had to go elsewhere for my live music, now it's here most weekends - top hole !

Some folks started a folk club, some folks run a repertory cinema, there's open-mic nights - many locals endeavour to create things they desire but which aren't here yet so yeah I dig the place and DIG the people.

Mat if you can't find what you want here in SE22 and you are able to articulate what it is you want that would render the manor less 'boring', perhaps you can rustle up some interest locally and create the things you want to happen ?

    • A reminder of the current situation. Covid-19 Eligibility: https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/ Availability: NHS are no longer running their own appointment-making system. This winter's version is still available from pharmacies until 31 January.   They may have individual availability times, see:  https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy-offering-walk-in-COVID-19-vaccination-services Flu Flu vaccinations (65+, pregnant, higher risk, or private) are available from some pharmacies.  See https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy-that-offers-free-flu-vaccination for details of eligibility and a link to a pharmacy finder. Some may offer appointments: you may have to dig down into their individual listing. RSV Currently eligible/recommended: If pregnant (at 28+ weeks), or age 75-79, or became 80 on or after 1 Sept 2024. This has been available from GP practices.  I was offered one by text.  When I responded a week later they didn't have any available but gave me one by appointment three weeks later. https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/rsv-vaccine/ Other vaccines https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/
    • I get that they're being pollarded. This estate was built in the 60's and so I'm guessing that they're around 60 years old.  Nothing wrong with that but even when they re-grow they're hardly going to be the most attractive. Y'know just musing on improving the look of our public spaces.
    • Pretty repetitive on the transport section.  I like a good discussion and this does raise wider issues.  I miss banks more than post office branches which tend to be part of other stores.  A few other threads on the Lounge, come on over.  Or 🐕 💩
