I do love them, but not at those prices.

Good luck to them I say, Jones' comment made me chuckle and it wouldn't surprise me if it was true.

I doubt any of them are especially minted from their endeavours.

Apart from Palin and all those travel books....

Idle and Gilliam must be loaded, surely? Things not going so well for John Cleese recently though, by all accounts....

My issue with it is that I just don't think they're funny any more. Well past their sell-by date. Plus, the O2 is not a venue for comedy IMO. All 5 nights are showing as sold out but they aren't as lots of blocks are being held back. So if anyone actually does want to go to it then wait a while until tickets are re-released, which will happen.
John Cleese spends about a gazillion a year on pyschoanlysis and paying off his various wives - it seems a viscous circle with the pysconalaysis not helping in his choice of partner which pushes him into more analysis. Terry Jones used to drink in the Firkin & Pheonix a lot, he probably had a big tab to settle.

Says a man who has never seen the Stones live. Pah!

Seen Terry Jones in many pubs around the manor over the years. Lovely bloke by all accounts. He's owned a house nearby since 1969.

Cleese must be skint. All that alimony and wasting money on shrinks. Fuck that.

The o2 is horrible and not the place I would want to see anybody.

The O2 is just about OK for a loud evening of rock but definitely not for comedy. Demand was high for the Pythons so I guess if they'd have played a smaller venue then they wouldn't be able to shoe-horn as many people in. Some crazy prices on the secondary market for the Pythons right now. Personally I think the RAH would have been iconic.
It is a Dead Bargain , It has exceeded, it has broken the bank, It has gone to the Golder Tower, It has joined LeeMan Brothers, It is a Royal Bank of Scotland. It has Nothern Rocked its socks off. It has gone down the Yellow Brick Road,It has joined the Bullingden Club, Kt has Spun the Zero .

Agree with posts of many of the above. Not funny anymore. John Cleese lost it for me when he advertised Sainsbury's in his Bond character, and Terry Jones's admission is basically like saying he wants to rip us all off.

On the news it said all the tickets were sold in 43 seconds. A bit like The Book of Mormon, there are too many rip-off shows around. Best to catch shows when they're on early try out at Menier, BAC, etc.

And LIKE the above post!

Johnny Rotten made a similar admission about a Sex Pistols reunion. It's just honest.

We'll get together and give you what you want to see, and we'll make money for it.

Don't think there's anything wrong in that, and they will probably have had very little, if anything to do with setting the prices.

    • Surprised at how many people take the 'oooh it's great it got approved, something is better than nothing' view. This is exactly Southwark council's approach, pandering to greedy developers for the absolute bare minimum of social and affordable housing. It's exactly why, under their leadership, only a fraction of social and affordable housing has been built in the borough - weirdly Mccash chose to highlight their own failures in his 'near unprecedented' (yet unbiased 😆) submission. All the objectors i have met support redevelopment, to benefit those in need of homes and the community - not change it forever. The council could and should be bolder, demand twice the social and affordable housing in these schemes, and not concede to 8 storeys of unneeded student bedsits. If it is a question of viability, publically disclose the business plan to prove how impossible it might be to turn a profit. Once the thing is built these sites can never be used for social or affordable housing. The council blows every opportunity, every time. Its pathetic. Developers admitted the scale was, in this instance, not required for viability. The student movements data seemed completely made up. The claim that 'students are taking up private rentals' was backed up with no data. There is empty student housing on denmark hill, needs to be fixed up but it's there already built. The council allows developers years to build cosy relationships with planners such that the final decision is a formality - substantiated objections are dismissed with wooly words and BS. Key meetings and consultations are scheduled deliberately to garner minimal engagement or objection. Local councillors, who we fund, ignore their constituents concerns. Those councillors that dare waiver in the predetermination are slapped down. Not very democratic. They've removed management and accountability by having no nomination agreement with any of the 'many london universities needing accommodation' - these direct lets MAKE MORE MONEY. A privately run firm will supposedly ensure everyone that those living there is actually a student and adheres to any conduct guidelines. There's no separation to residents - especially to ones on their own development. Could go on... We'll see how many of the 53 social/affordable units that we're all so happy to have approved actually get built.
    • I am looking for 1 unit which is working for £50 cash. Thank you
