So because I don't want to queue for ages to sit down and eat a pizza I'm some sort of epicurean snob? Incidentally, one of Franco Manca's toppings is "Gloucester Old Spot Hand Sliced Sausage". Yes, but what was the name of the pig? And the person who sliced the sausage??

Some places will call you when your table is ready, so you can wait in the pub. This seems reasonable to me, and I'm happy to do that.

But waiting outside in a queue is just daft. I've done it (under protest) for Pitt Cue co, Shake Shack, and even the Thai place in Brixton Village. Not sure any of them were really worth it. It's the last thing I want after a crappy day at work.

The Leinster pack used to be ridiculed as too posh to push ...as they were from rich Dublin . While Munster scrummed all over them for years ....

I am confused ..I need help ..maybe there is a new demograpic class ....too posh / precious / angry / rich / suburban / very sensible in their own eyes / English / clever / to queue.

I would not queue myself but I don't understand the anti queue- ers ...let other people queue if they want to ....but why have a go at them ? Why mock them ? Is to make the non queue ers look principled / righteous ..I would NEVER queue myself ....So at brixton franco manca I will go after 2pm or around 6 30 pm and there is no queue ..should I boycott the restaurant because they have lots of people wanting to eat at peak times ? .

I can understand poncy (sp ? ) restaurant reviewers hating it but there are always some fawning pepper grinding restaurants they can BOOK into who will call them by their first names !??? .....please advise

Queuing is what the British do well.

An East Dulwich dilemma.

"Oh, look, there's a queue. Let's join it."

"Hey! What are we queuing for?

"I can't remember. Is this the queue for Franca Manca?

"No, it's the queue for William Rose."

"I've had enough of this, let's go home."

"Ok, let's get the bus. Oh, feck! Another queue. Oh well."

If you can't beat 'em. Join 'em.

I cant recall there being queues for any restaurants on LL before, and I dont expect FM to change this.

The situation in Brixton Market is very different to ED. I am expecting it will be busy, but the size of the space at the proposed location should keep punters seated and happy.

To queue or not to queue.

You could always tell a good chip-shop by the queue;

And the long wait for a post-session kebab was never really about culinary excellence,

And did you ever try and get anything to eat at any 'event' (including our own GG affairs)- whether it's a 'foot-long' sausage or a bowl of paella - without queuing?

I think I may queue for a minute or two - just long enough to pick up my pre-ordered take-away pizza anyway (Franco's don't deliver).

efs.

Takeaways are different - you get served pronto when you're at the front of the queue. Queueing at events can be a pain, though. I remember our two lads making a few quid for themselves at a festival the other year by offering to queue for people at the Pieminister stall.

The original Brixton FM is tiny, so it's no wonder there are queues - however, I've eaten many, many times at the larger Chiswick FM and have never had to wait for a table. The ED one will be of a similar size, so I doubt that there'll be much queuing apart from at the obviously busy times.

I'll miss the Draft House's burgers, but am looking forward to Franco Manca's excellent but inexpensive pizzas on LL.

Same old story. Retail premises far too small on LL, and a really poor evening footfall. A restaurant may do ok, but look at the only other chain on the lane - GBK, it's far emptier than most other rival branches in London. This is what amazes me about all the chain comments on another thread, most large chains wouldn't touch this area with a barge poll, for the reasons stated.

    • Having had several cats over the past 40 years - mainly rescue, we have a tried and tested routine, Initially confined to one room with litter tray/food/water - we take it in turns to stay for a few minutes several times a day so they become familiar with our scent. They are gradually introduced to the rest of the house. We have a wire cat basket and we place cat in basket and take them outside, over a few days we place basket in different areas of the garden - grass area/gravel area, patio area etc - different flowers/plants. Some of the more nervous cats we walk around the garden on a lead. They get use to the scent of the garden. We have a cat flap in the back door so they have full access - If we need to keep cat in - just block off the cat flap so they cannot escape! We are now down to one elderly cat - who during the summer just laid on the garden chairs and came in for food, but as weather getting colder prefers to sit on a worktop in the kitchen looking out into the garden. So we are back to the cat litter as she is reluctant to go out in the rain/cold.
    • With fibre you are paying for the speed, which is the number, yours is 300 so if you did a lot of gaming, for example, you would want the fastest possible.  If it's just office work or maybe streaming on Netflix you likely won't need as fast, but, if there are a lot of people in your house all doing their own thing on different devices, then faster speeds are better.  I don't rely on my Wi-Fi much other than when I am using my mobile.  I use Ethernet cables to connect up everything, I Have one cable running from my router, along the skirtings and through a hole I drilled in the wall to another room.  I have attached the plusnet speed guide which gives you an idea of how it works.
    • I'd reread what you posted and try to summarise.  It just comes across as a rant.
    • Just shows, to me, once proud to be a citizen of UK.. now.. well if we pay/contribute to services - nhs, police, fire etc and folk who have made this there home - no matter what creed or culture.. for the love c of God, can someone  please explain to me.. how we have working royals who like them or not, have tried and continue to actually support and make a change and then we have Andrew.. who just destroys everything.. not just him, or royalty but his own children..  I had great admiration for The Queen - and respect.. as have a huge number of people.. but.. these old traditions where gosh.. live rent free and can’t get chucked out until I believe 2070? From what I scanned..well he has and continues to have it all.. has to go thru what old rules? Etc.  doubt very much he has even kept the upkeep maintenance up on his abode.. and do the shite keeps on pulling up.. What has Andrew done for UK or for that matter since he was 20?? Do please tell me       Totally off topic, before anyone jumps down my throat.. I just do not get how anyone is proud to be British at this point in time. Whoever is in power, seems to be able to help themselves to the public purse with no redress at all - Covid is a great example of lining of pockets.. Millions  given to Rowanda, so one is led to believe, to help with refugee problem and one can’t get a plane load off!  I simply do not get it at all. Use of food banks in UK growing yearly, homeless as well, nhs, police, fire service etc all on their knees..
