Lovely folk of the EDF, after taking part in something similar myself, I have set up a Christmas surprise swap(see attached). Essentially, if you want to take part you will be paired up with a stranger and then send each other a Christmas surprise package - a box containing something personal (maybe a favourite recipe, a book you've read, a mixtape, something homemade), something inspirational (newspaper clipping, a photo or illustration that means something to you), and a little Christmas gift (spending guide for your box is ?10 - put as much free stuff (leaves, stickers, glitter, popcorn etc.) in as you like).

To take part, please PM or email me with your name and address no later than 5pm on Thursday 21st November so that I can pair you up with a mystery swapper. Your surprise box must be posted by Friday 6th December.

This is much more fun than receiving bills.

Hollie, I just have to say a big 'Thankyou' for organising this. My mysterious & beautifully wrapped present is sitting on the side (soon to be under the tree), and I get proper Christmas excitement every time I look at it. I think it's one of the best things about Christmas 2013 so far. When I go to the shops I find myself thinking 'it might be you' as I look at the other shoppers on the lane. It makes me smile just to think of it. It's just lovely community thing to do, and I particularly liked the way you advised we structure the box. Thankyou Hollie - and whoever sent me my box - and Merry Christmas :D

    • Interesting experiment  Look forward to the results
    • But this collection is not a function of the bin men who work demanding hours, they start very early, in an unpleasant job. You have attacked them when you should be attacking, if anyone, their managers in either Veolia or the council who are failing to schedule timely pick up of street collected rubbish. Or perhaps paying for it. You have moved from saying the rubbish is poorly collected household rubbish to saying they are street swept rubbish, not collected quickly. Very different things.
    • It's a forum. For discussion and differing opinions.  I do not "respond constantly to everything" - another exaggeration. I post  on forum threads where I have an opinion or information to contribute, as do many others. The forum name you have chosen is interesting. I use my own name. "Head girl" ??? !!! My school would have laughed at that description 🤣
    • You are trying to cast doubt on what I have provided evidence for and I have to ask why? The rubbish wouldn't be scattered if the blue bags were collected on schedule. They are very frequently left in various places around East Dulwich.
