worldwiser
There is a fault disruption. You might find that you do not have any Virgin Broadband, Virgin TV, TiVo? or Virgin Phone service at the moment.Fault reference: F002769825Yes and I might also find that you offer no reimbursement or apology for this. Nor did you the last time or the 12 times before that. Bless you for all that you do. stephen509
Change to Sky Broadband, never had a problem in the 4 years I've been with them! voltore
It's back up, at least for now...I called Virgin about 30 mins ago and got the same 2.30am estimate, but looks ok at the moment Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38434-virgin-media-outage-se22/#findComment-695853 Share on other sites
worldwiser
Well we're now back.. so the calamity was shortlived. Sky don't offer 120MB broadband with a genuine 10Meg up.. much as I get occasionally aggrieved, I can just about deal with it to have proper internet the rest of the time. voltore
Same for me. The outages do seem to be timed to perfection though... it meant I left a transaction uncommitted for about 2 hours (any DBAs out there can appreciate the pain!) tallulah71
when I rang they couldn't have been more helpful. One night without TV /broadband - not the end of the world...Plus Netflix is coming soon! Jeremy
Went down around 10ish last night, but back up by early this morning. Not exactly the end of the world. Virgin media get a lot of flack on here, but we find them generally OK. jimbo1964
I find them OK. We've had a few short disruptions but nothing too terrible. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38434-virgin-media-outage-se22/#findComment-695975 Share on other sites
KidKruger
I've had a few down patches of a week or so and failed turn-ups from engineers, so can handle the odd day.But overall what I get/use per month against cost, for me, is not reasonable value - so it's laters for Virgin. mishadreams
YUp, lost internet/tv for about 2 hours last night, from 10.30 to 12.30am. hardly peak time for work though is it so can't complain really. Cable is so much better/faster/relible than sky et all. singalto
Kidkruger: Sky comes via satellite dish.I had no internet or phone last night or this morning but the TV worked! When I rang Virgin, I asked them to call me back as I was phoning on my mobile and told them I didn't want to pay a fortune for the call. He did ring straight back and told me I had a fault on my phone line and booked a visit to fix it tomorrow. In fact, it has sorted itself out and, of course, now I can see that lots of you had a problem too. It's weird that the man at Virgin hadn't got that information.. KidKruger
Next door have Sky I think (their WiFi label is 'SKYxxxxxx'), but they don't have a satellite dish I'm sure. red devil
According to Sky's website you need a dish for their general TV service, however you can get Sky Go via your smartphone/tablet/laptop which doesn't require a dish... http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sky-go/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38434-virgin-media-outage-se22/#findComment-696083 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Surely you have the dish for TV and cable for broadband? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38434-virgin-media-outage-se22/#findComment-696090 Share on other sites
red devil
I think you just need a wifi/3G/4G connection, which could be from another supplier...ETA...http://www.cable.co.uk/community/qa/do-i-need-a-sky-dish-to-get-sky-tv-q32/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38434-virgin-media-outage-se22/#findComment-696092 Share on other sites
Jeremy
I thought we were talking about Sky vs Virgin as an ISP... not access to content..
