Dress code: Lounge Suit

Help! Can anyone advise what to wear if stated dress code is 'Lounge suit'???? Not strictly an ED issue but the event is quite local!

Basically it's a matching jacket and trousers - normally referred to these days simply as a "suit", generally with shirt and tie. The most important thing is that this is not a dinner jacket/evening dress.

I think it means just a business suit - matching jacket and trousers / white shirt etc. Ie: not formal wear but something you would wear for business, interviews etc.

How disappointing.. I was hoping it might be some kind of flannel or padded jacket, perhaps with a fleur-de-lys motif on the breast pocket and velvet cuffs.

I agree with Bob! I was digging into the back of the wardrobe for something Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen might wear - and which I did in the 70s...what about my lady friend, what should she wear??

Where men are required to wear a lounge suit, women have a much wider choice. Generally it means anything that's pretty smart. A day dress, a trouser suit, a separate skirt and top - I would say anything short of a King and I style ballgown!

I always wanted a ball gown just like the one in Ana and the King! I didn't think anyone else noticed that wonderful confection. I got one recently just for wearing in the lounge...

How marvellous! Clearly a dress like that has a number of other uses too, besides being stylishly iconic, it can be a small childrens wendy house, it can dust the skirting boards as you swish about the lounge...
