jim_the_chin
I noticed the other day that one of the prefabs on LL has been boarded up. Are they not listed? Should we expect a luxury development of 15 shoe boxes on the site soon? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/383-prefabs-out/ Share on other sites

georgia
On the right as you go up LL towards Dulwich Library, bit difficult to describe exactly. One has loads of flowers in garden, really colourful Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/383-prefabs-out/#findComment-7969 Share on other sites
Jeremy
I'm surprised they've been around as long as they have, given the size of the plot which they sit on!They've never bothered me at all, but it has to be said that they don't fit in aesthetically with the buildings in the rest of the area (not that the replacement will be any more sympathetic). James
As in, the 80s band? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/383-prefabs-out/#findComment-7991 Share on other sites
Amelie
They were built at the end of WWII and were intended to be temporary, but they were solidly built and there was rapidly a waiting list for them. I am sorry that they are now boarded up and hope they are not going to be demolished. mumra
Thought the thread title was genius! James, I have to admit I loved Prefab Sprout and even went to see them at Hammersith Odeon in my youth. Sad I know. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/383-prefabs-out/#findComment-8046 Share on other sites
Chartwell
There are two prefabs along Underhill Road. New flats and houses were built around another prefab - which I heard belonged to a 93 year old woman and she was going to be offered the first flat when the building work was finished! I haven't heard whether she got one - it must have been hell to have a development grow around you. James
Mumra, congratulations on (Spr)outing yourself! May I suggest you listen to the recent album by NME darlings Captain - which sounds like a cross between them and (dare I utter these words) Deacon Blue?
