annaj
AllforNun, the OP was quite clear that the dog peed (peeed? pee-ed?) on the pavement outside the shop, not the shop front or the raised "garden" area directly in front of the shop. Difficult to say not having been there, but it does seem a bit unreasonable to object to that. djfitz
Agreed. The pavement is 'public' property ( or perhaps more correctly Southwark Council property). This colourful sounding character has no rights to it himself.Perhaps the-friend-with-the-dogs should have allowed him to call the police and waited for them to arrive. During that time hopefully the other dog would have had a pee too. Or even a crap that she could have cleaned up and then asked him if she could put it in his bin. Or mouth.I think I shall pop down there and ask for some wool and when he asks me what kind I shall reply - in a useless blokey kind of way - that I don't know, the missus sent me.I'll let everyone know how I got on when I leave hospital. netballcoach
Just thought i would say i have had blinds and cushion covers made up from this shop and you must be talking about someone else. He has come to my house, been civil, courtious (i know i cant spell) and very helpful. He didn't try to tell me what i should or should not buy, in fact he said that he is just concentrating on the making side of things. He's never tried to pressure me into buying anything. In fact he brought round about 20 material books and let us have them overnight and then picked them up the next day. He made some wonderful cushions covers for me, it was with some designers guild fabric that i supplied (off cuts) and he charges only ?25 per cushion, John Lewis and Designers Guild are upwards of ?50.In my view he's a good local businessman and i would definately recommend him.He said he was going to start a new range of covered ottamans, made to measure, with a foam depth to suit and fabric on request, all for about ?200 plus the material cost. Again Designers Guild charge about ?400 plus material, so it sounds interesting, with it being made to measure and all. Before you ask, i am not related or have anything to do with his business, just thought i would give my experience with him an airing.many thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3828-unreasonable-behaviour/page/3/#findComment-131035 Share on other sites
Annasfield
So you spent a fair bit of cash, didn't just a cotton reel or some needles? Seems that the fabric man is always quite pleasant when he sniffs a fair wedge of filthy lucre. I'm sure he's a nice enough fella, but I know the girl who was walking said dog and she was quite upset by him. kristymac1
But he's not a nice enough fella, he's rude, obnoxious and more than a little unpleasant. If he only wants big single sales then he should put a notice in the window to that effect:'?50 minimum spend. Anyone looking for a mere bobbin, bugger off elsewhere' . At least then I'd know.......... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3828-unreasonable-behaviour/page/3/#findComment-131045 Share on other sites
Annasfield
I was being diplomatic as I'd quite like to play netball with this lady someday. I actually think the fabric man sounds like a complete tosser. AllforNun
I think he sounds great. I know he is really good at what he does because loads of people recommend him. Next to those shops are peoples houses so maybe your dog pissed outside his front door. Who knows we will never get the whole story, we can only bear witness to the cyber hearsay from a minority of netball players and dogs walkers and some people who have clearly watched Cape Fear one 2 many times " nice car love " ??? eeek !! Tony.London Suburbs
I don't wish to cross swords with D'artagnan above but too many people have been foiled,as it were,in their attempts to be pleasant with this Guy.A musket ball right up his tickers is the best solution imdo.:)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3828-unreasonable-behaviour/page/3/#findComment-131066 Share on other sites
AllforNun
What there's a French Guy with a wide brimmed hat on the scene, where the hell did he come from ? I'll keep my eyes peeled for him , do you think he is trying to muscle in on the ribbon business ? christ there could be feathers and frogs legs all over this poor fabric mans pavements soon. ClareC
AllforNun Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Next to those shops are peoples houses so maybe> your dog pissed outside his front door. No..... nowhere near, it was between the barbers and the fabric shop, most definitely on the pavement and nowhere near the shop "fronts" given the sort of front garden arrangement those shops have. Dulwich_ Park_ Fairy
I've dealt with the guy and think he's a good bloke. I think there needs to be some clarification about what the "dog did". Are we talking rivers of piss in the middle of the pavement or a sly cock of the leg against the wall? If it was the former he had every right to complain. Annasfield
A dog peed on a pavement. How do you clear that up? The man came out the shop and started shouting at her. Is that reasonable? Dogs do this, they also crap and this is always picked up and put in a bin. The friend offered to wash away the pee with some water which he wouldn't provide her with. What more could she do? Honestly! More to it, how ridiculous. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3828-unreasonable-behaviour/page/3/#findComment-131261 Share on other sites
