Driving route to Heathrow on Friday evening

We've got to drive to Heathrow tomorrow at about 5ish. I know the traffic's going to be horrible, but we need to do it. So, does anyone have any advice about the best driving route to try and make it less awful? Thanks!

avoid as much of the M25 as you can- I would go in to town and then out- kind of!

Its not going to be fun, but I'd agree with ????, though I would probably leave an hour earlier - I'd rather be at Heathrow for an extra hour than in my car in traffic for an extra hour.

Agree with ???? though Embankment can get snarled, alternative to A4 would be over chelsea bridge and through Sloane Sq.

I took this route from East Dulwich 4 weeks ago on a Friday, leaving at 6.30pm.

FYI It took 2hrs 15mins to get to Junction 10 of the M4.

..sample of 1, on average at that time that's the best route. What do you suggest then KK? South Circular on a Friday PM normally terribla and you only get to Brentford anyway, getting out to the M25 Takes ages let alone round it...plus J10 is Reading.... no?
