el-torcho
Does anyone cycle from East Dulwich to White City or thereabouts? I've bought the bike and now need to find a safe route to work. Horsebox
Hello el-torcho, I cycle from ED to Earls Court each day. The route I take is thus:Start at Crystal Palace Road, up Lordship Lane to the Plough, turn right at library down Eynella road, turn right at park, down Court Lane, right at traffic lights onto Dulwich Village, left onto village way and onto Half Moon lane.Turn right at Brockwell Park / Herne Hill Junction, onto Dulwich Road and down to Brixton Water Lane, turn right on Effra Road, left at St Matthews church, cut through behind Brixton Town Hall and on to Acre Lane and Clapham Park Road to Clapham Common Tube station.Turn onto The Pavement (road name not the sidewalk) follow Clapham Common North Side and take a sneaky right using the pedestrian Crossing onto Elspeth Road, down to Lavender hill.Straight over at the lights onto Latchmere Road, down to Battersea Bridge Road and Battersea Bridge.Left at end of the bridge onto Cheyne Walk, straight over at the lights onto Gunter Grove and then Finborough Road and left onto Lillie Road. This takes me about 35 minutes but will of course depend on what bike you are riding and your fitness levels & speed.I would estimate another 10-15 mins to White City but I've never been up there so could be way off with this.Hope this helps. OystercardOdyssey
hi el-torchoi've just read your message-i cycle to barons court. if you cross vauxhall bridge you can get some speed up left along the embankment to cheyne walk up past earls court and left on talgarth road (pavement), right at the college up gliddon road, left at the end and then right at the lights opposite Latymers pub through brook green (queens head on your left, highly recommended), right at the end up to shepherds bush and then your there, almost. if i get a following wind, it takes me 35-40 mins Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3797-white-city-cycle-route/#findComment-123731 Share on other sites
Horsebox
I've been cycling ED to SW6 for nearly 2 years and I used to take the route above as posted by oysterburger. IMHO, definitely quicker and much more enjoyable, pleasant, scenic, plus fewer idiot drivers, less bendy buses (none) if you go via Brixton and clapham common. I say, how about a road race? We shall depart from The Plough public house at midday sharp where the Queen herself shall drop the chequered flag.
