tallulah71
looking forward to this! The outside looks good, and we've waited long enough for it to become finally a good use of space since the cinema round the back years ago. Dulwich Born And Bred
A gastro pub with his own vegetable patch apparently and one that will source local suppliers etc so I assume meat from William Rose? fish from Moxons? PandG
It's looking good to me after the Mag slid off the planet we need a bit of a buzz there - the refurbishment work looks good as it's the whole building and not just a lick of paint. They published the Kerry Moss (masterchef winner) menu and the food looks great - stop moaning and support local businesses and ventures - they have to sell it otherwise.......! tallulah71
singalto - I know what the Patch is. And I'm looking forward to it being a good use of space since the cinema back in 2000 odd...Never liked it much as the Mag, and even less as the Magnolia. Used to go there when it had loud TV and even louder carpets too! Twirly
Just had a look at the menu, which looks interesting, though the name of one of the desserts "Warm chocolate nemesis" made me laugh - sounds like a posh "death by chocolate"!I see they have a forum section too... Jeremy
Not cheap, but that doesn't mean it's not value for money. Similar prices to ToastED. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/#findComment-691758 Share on other sites
Otta
And it shouldn't be viewed as pub food, forget the Mag, This is not a gastro pub, this is a restaurant opening in an old pub.Good luck to them. Not that I'll be visiting, but that's because I don't really do eating out, nothing against them. Curmudgeon
Well as long as the portions are bigger than the tapas that is ToastED it might be worth a visit - but that is ridiculous pricing IMO Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/#findComment-691791 Share on other sites

*Bob*
From 'Po-Faced sceptic' I'm now 'looking forward to giving it a try'It's all down to the food though. At that price point and given the location - if it's not 'darned good' it'll be a short ride for the patch. tallulah71
Agree with all sentiments above; expensive but, if it delivers what it promises as toasted (Franklins or the Palmerston) does and if it is somewhere you go for special occasions, then it won't break the bank. You can't expect top-quality well-cooked food at pub prices. They seem in keeping with all other quality restaurants in the area. Good luck to them - especially as it's off the beaten track. Mick Mac
Its Palmerston prices I geuss so no reason why it cant also do well, assuming they get the food right from the start. As for drinking, Nice to have something working again in that space, good place to stop for a first beer on the way down to the "nightlife" at the end of the lane. MrBen
It's almost my local so I shall be giving it a go and as usual I want it to be successful. I don't believe "self sustainable" is anything more than a marketing bollocks though and it just bugs me. Growing a few of your own tomatoes/herbs onsite doesn't count. Part sustainable, some of our own produce grown onsite fair enough. But for a November opening I expect much of the menu above to come from the usual suppliers, local or otherwise. If the food isn't "darned good" they can always do a Flying Pig and say "We're actually a pub not a restaurant" to deflect the critics.
