SkyofFire
After a LONG day of going through my wardrobes I have six bin bags worth of clothes to donate. All are good quality and lots never worn (to my shame; I was young and carefree). I'd like to donate these items to a charity shop or two - does anybody know of which shops are currently low on stock/would like them?Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks! singalto
St Christopher's hospice shop in Lordship Lane would be grateful.. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37816-where-best-to-donate-clothes/#findComment-690689 Share on other sites
Serena2012
I would also recommend the St Christopher's hospice clothes shop on Lordship Lane. J27
I agree re St C's - but do phone them to check, before heaving all your bags down there. I went in a couple of weeks ago and they were unable to take anything, as they were totally full up. This may have changed by now ...Otherwise the MIND shop at Goose Green takes things ... fl0wer
...and there are the everpresent coffers of the Barry Road refugee centre to fill....Nothing against the St Christopher's but if I were a refugee it might help reduce the pain if someone had been nice enough to donate totally new, unworn items instead of dowdy emergency supplies. Serena2012
I gave St Christopher's a bag of stuff today so it seems as though they are taking donations. SkyofFire
Thanks for the advice - I didn't realise there was a refugee centre in ED. I'll give them a ring on Mnoday to see what they'd like and will take the rest to St Christopher's. Thanks again. Nunheadfamily
My friend is organising a clothes swap at The telegraph hill on the evening of the 6.11.2013. she would welcome donations, all proceeds going to work with Syrian refugee children. Dnations can be dropped off at the cafe anytime between now and the 2.11.2013. http://www.warchild.org.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37816-where-best-to-donate-clothes/#findComment-690840 Share on other sites

simonethebeaver
We gave several bags of clothes to the refuge on Barry Road, again many unworn or barely worn, and they were very, very gratefully received. They are particularly in need of warm clothes, and clothes for men and children. Baby stuff is always wanted. Mrs TP
The smaller St Christopher's Hospice on Lordship is always grateful for donations. The bigger one does seem to get full from time to time (I think because it is easier to park nearer to it) and they often ask if you can pop down the road to the smaller one. I have taken two car boot fulls of mixed items to the smaller one over the last two weeks and they have been brilliant about taking them - offering to help unload the car and giving me my boxes and bags back for another load. I know when we clear out at home we just clear out but they like anywhere benefit from seasonal items and I had a rummage through our Christmas deccies and put in bits n bobs no longer wanted and they were really pleased.I took a bag of stuff to the refugee centre in the church at the top of Barry Road 3wks ago and they were reluctant to take it saying they had too much stuff and would only accept items for children - it was kids winter coats I had and so after some negotiation they took it. Mustard
Was told there was a sign outside the large St. Christopher's yesterday saying they were overwhelmed with donations and could not take any more for health and safety reasons. titch juicy
I've taken stuff to the refugee centre on barry road a couple of times, and as others have said they have been everso grateful.St Christopher's Hospice is of course a worthy cause, but every time i've been in there there have been piles of new stuff.
