Has anyone used Art of Glass for an extension or conservatory?

We had Art of Glass round to quote for a small 6 foot extension to our flat and were really impressed by them. Has anyone used them in the past? We're a little nervous as it's so much money (rightly so, it's structural work!).

Thank you!

Hi, I didn't use them in the end. I was contacted by two people from other forums who said that they had had a terrible experience with them. They had been left with half done extensions or massive structural issues with their properties and that the company had just closed down and reopened and never been accountable. I got a bit scared off. You can indeed see reviews for the company and the main lady Ganna online if you search so maybe contact them too? The company did quote ?19,000 for a 10 x 6 kitchen extension with glazed roof and underfloor heating and I did really like the process of designing with them. They were also more than happy to let me look at other extensions they had done so maybe look into it yourself? I didn't look into it any more and never had an extension done in the end. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

(I was however highly recommended David O'Brien by several people and he seemed really lovely and was more than happy to show me around finished and ongoing building projects. He is also reassuringly quite booked up. He's on 07960 938621 and if you search you can find recommendations on Virtual Norwood forum too)

Hi Tarah,

Found your message on this Forum and decided that will explain our part of the story. Our company was targeted by awful woman with a lot of classic cars. She asked us to build for her orangery instead of bad conservatory she had. When I was signing the contract she said- we sue every builder walking to this door and always won.the bell should of ring for me. But I was absolutely sure that we do our very best so it has nothing to do with us. As you may remember, we take only small deposit, order all frames and take payment after it been delivered. She was behaving funny from the start and when her construction ?20k worth was delivered refused to pay, making stupid case of non existing damage.( we removed her old construction as per contract!)After consulting our lawyer, we understood that as goods where behind her gates it will takes us very long and expensive to get court order for removal and walked away... However, few bits were missing for her to put free orangery by someone else up and she was chasing how to get it. Writing Rubbish on different sites etc. Finally, we had to report her to the police and asked sites were we found damaging information and asked for it to be Removed. There are rogue builders but there are rogue customers too! You can call me for more details on 07894556072 . Thanks

Ganna Peatfield

    • Seriously, how naïve and juvenile is that petition, talk about sore losers. Whether you think Labour has broken any of its pre-election manifesto pledges/commitments etc is all down to interpretation and more likely how you voted at the last GE. But regardless of that, has there ever been a government that hasn't met all it's pre-election manifesto pledges/commitments etc? There were loads of promises made by previous Tory Govs over the past 14 years that they failed to deliver on, where were all the right-whingers calling for a petition then?  Let's start with taxes. Johnson pledged in 2019  not to increase income tax, VAT or National Insurance. By 2023... The current Tory-led parliament will oversee the biggest set of tax increases since the Second World War, the country’s leading economic think tank has said. Tax revenue will amount to 37% of national income by the next election, analysis from the Institute for Fiscal Studies suggests, up from about 33% four years ago. This is the largest increase since records began in the 1950s. The spike amounts to about £3,500 more per household, though it will not be spread equally. Then there's Brexit and all that promised but failed to deliver, even Johnson's 2019 'oven ready deal' wasn't oven ready and needed to be amended to get round the issues of a border in the Irish Sea (another broken promise). They couldn't even deliver on the promise of controlling our borders, with immigration shooting up post-Brexit. Not forgetting the addition of red tape rather the the reduction that was promised. There's a thesis to be written on this subject alone. Ditto 'levelling-up', remember that?  How about 40 new hospitals that later turned out to be  mainly refurbs of existing hospitals?  300,000 new homes per year were also promised in 2019, a target that pre-election stood at... The Construction Products Association currently estimates the government will miss its 300,000 homes a year target by 40%. And so on. Whisper it, but Govs also do things that weren't in their manifesto like Sunak scrapping HS2 and subsequently trying to 'salt the earth' so that it couldn't be revived by a future Gov. He had no mandate to be PM let alone do something major like that, again, where was the uproar from the right? You can apply the same double standards to all the confected noise around Labour and the so-called freebies. That, along with this petition is purely political and nothing to do with principals being applied fairly...
    • That's a good well  considered letter 👍
    • The Post Offices and the Royal Mail should be renationalised. Massive mistake privatising industries where competition doesn't work properly and certainly does not offer any advantage to end users.
