Hello

I have a strange problem that only happens when I try to access, use or log on to, the East Dulwich Forum.

What happens is: my browser/computer/whatever is causing it, slows right down. While other sites open almost instantly, the browser window often starts up, runs its little blue line (that indicates it is going to the webpage) as far as the first h t t p / bit and then stops.

I have to repeatedly "empty cache", remove all cookies or even restart the browser, to be able to log on. This also happens when I try to move between threads. Sometimes I even have to shut down and restart.

I work online all day, every day (believe me), and my work involves visiting a lot of sites, yet this only happens with the EDF. I would be very grateful for any pointers as to why this is happening.

EDF has proved very useful for a number of things so I would like to use more, not less, but this slowing and crashing of my computer is a constant problem.

Thanks

Hi

Hmmm, never heard of this one before, I'm going to have to ask the usual questions:

Which browser + version are you using?

Which operating system + version?

Are you behind a firewall?

When you see the blue line down the bottom of the screen, does it say "downloading xxxx"? If so, can you say what xxxx is?

Also, try going to the home page http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/ and click on all six "Reset new posts" link

cheers

Mark

Tried the "Reset New Posts" and everything now loads zippily.

Thank you very much....was I being an idiot? It is not unlikely. Had no clue that doing that would help.

Forum is a very useful thing and I hope you received some kind of award for your achievement, not least for keeping it free of annoying flashy flashy ads for pointless things.

Ta KK also for your advice.

    • Another recommendation - excellent, fast work.
    • I appealed against a fine issued by Southwark, and won. The adjudicator was businesslike, but also mentioned that several cases had come to him caught out by the same confusing signage.    Is there any other parking that could reasonably have been used? Does the shop advise where to park?  It sounds as though the time in the bay was a reasonable use. Even if you lose, I doubt that Southwark can increase the original charge. If you are going to appeal, don't delay. Take pictures of the scene if you think that might help, also provide the weight of the goods if that supports your case.
    • Thanks - an overnight stay,  a drip and painkillers seems to have done its work!
    • Depends on who can afford to purchase or lease it and what The Dulwich Estate, Stonegate and Southwark Council will allow to be built or operate on the site. Whatever it is, it needs to attract footfall for itself and businesses around it. The question to ask is what does that part of Dulwich need, that is not within the locality, which will attract custom and footfall, that the site can accommodate and that can offer parking which it already has available. In between Cox's Walk, Dulwich Village, Dulwich College and the park, some sort of establishment that sells drinks and meals. Bit then I'm just chucking ideas around, or maybe someone, Dean, has some radical idea's to take it in a totally different direction.    Whatever it becomes it has to be better than the rotting site and eyesore it currently is. Good luck to anyone who takes on the project to redevelop the former Grove Tavern.
