simonethebeaver
We are rat-free inside but obviously there are many outside. Nothing new, I know, but suddenly our cats are bringing a dead, smallish one inside every day. We can only assume there is at least one nest outside. It's fairly disgusting. Will this end as the rats get older, take on their student debt, buy Ikea starter packs and set off into the world, or is there any reason/benefit to getting K&O (to pre-empt the inevitable recommendation) to look for it in our garden? chuff
Mine are doing the same thing, also with smallish rats. Glad they're doing it, not glad they're dragging them through the cat flap as presents. tiddles
ours bring in live ones.... we have to chase around with tupperware and card to put back outside. Usually in the early hours. At least yours arn't moving Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37328-rat-madness/#findComment-686547 Share on other sites
simonethebeaver
One was. Not only that, but when we chased the cat and writhing rat out again, a bloody fox appeared by our back door to try to snatch the rat. It was Beatrix Potter gone wrong in our garden. Nick B
I seem to remember the "main" article in the current edition of Absolutely Dulwich tells the wonderful story of a man who killed a rat with a wall mirror. Perhaps contact them and see if he does work with other household vanity furniture. Voyageur
On the other hand, a while back when we had a rat problem the council rat man aka 'pest control' said that he (not being a particular cat lover) had had to get a cat to deter rats in his garden after his local neighborhood became over-run.May be worth sticking some rat poison in areas that pets cannot access but rats can? Mick Mac
It always surprises me when people snuggle up to their cats or allow their cats to lick them when they must he aware that said cats spend much of their time biting into rodents. civilservant
After my OH was bitten by a Jack Russell on the Rye, the doctor just cleaned the wound and dressed it - and added that had it been a cat bite instead, she'd have had to take much more drastic action against the possibility of nasty infections Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37328-rat-madness/#findComment-687738 Share on other sites

Loz
Just remember, you are snuggling up to something that can lick it's own bum. And does. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37328-rat-madness/#findComment-688063 Share on other sites

Voyageur
Ah.... you poor OCD sufferers :) You are far more likely to pick up bugs on your daily commute than stroking a cat ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37328-rat-madness/#findComment-688085 Share on other sites
