Trying to be good. Does anyone know of a good washing powder that isn't bad for the environment (or not too bad!) and work on real nappies. Always been told Ecover is a no no for nappies. Currently using Surcare but interested if others have found a god one. Ideally want one to use on everything, rather than a separate one for nappies. Ta

We use Bio-D washing powder which we buy in bulk 12.5kg boxes a few times a year. I switched to it mainly because my son and I have sensitive skin and it doesn't have any perfume or cause irritation. It washes really well at low temperatures. I also use Bio D laundry bleach and find this very effective on coloured clothes and to revive grey looking whites. Can you tell I'm currently in nesting mode awaiting baby number 2? Never thought I would be so enthusiastic about laundry detergent!

Here is a link to where I get it from.

Sorry Etta - I don't know what's wrong with it - maybe nothing?!? I was told it invalidated some nappy guarantees as it builds up in your nappies. That's not my experience, and can't remember who told me! Don't take me word for it though - could be speaking rubbish
Daz plus a scoop of miofresh worked best for me. Only a v small amount of daz though- 1-2 tablespoons depending on load. I seem to remember that Ecover doesn't rinse out so well - if you search on a nappy forum like clothnappytree you'll find an explanation

    • The govt research cited earlier in this thread suggests that the number of foreign uni students seeking places is reducing and that this is nothing to do with available accommodation, but with rising uni course fees and issues to do with visas. So I wonder what the true level of demand will be for these student rentals, if many cannot afford them? If there was insufficient uptake on the student side what would happen to the properties?
    • Just seen them! Moved into Barry Rd 33 years ago and remember watching dozens of them in the sky as we sat in the back garden the first evening. Look out for them every year. Lifts your spirits when they arrive.
    • Aleksandra was the driving force behind the conversion of what was a nice but very outdated house into what is now my beautiful, vibrant and modern home. I cannot recommend her enough- she was a pleasure to work with- she has an uncanny eye for detail and her sense of style is unparalleled. She knew where to push me beyond my “safe beige” colours but always kept my personality and preferences in mind. She sourced fabric / colours / lighting designs , she found local options for spectacular interior ideas in the kitchen , display cabinets , bathrooms , bedrooms and wardrobes. She never went beyond budget and was very timely in her execution. The result was a beautiful home that even after 8 years looks as stunning as it did when first put together. It is as liveable as it is beautiful and none of it would have been possible with Alexandra. I truly could not recommend her highly enough- there are few people with her work ethic and style. Thank you Alexandra !
