Whilst I agree there's no way it will be all ticket, it is supposed to be Charlton's first team turning up. This was part of the deal that took Chris Dickson to the Valley in 2007 - also Alan Pardew played for Dulwich before he turned professional, so hopefully will be inclined to bring a strong team. It is listed as a first team match on the Charlton website.

I hope you're right about Pardew bringing a decent team. Unfortunately I remember the Nottingham Forest friendly a few years back that had the first team listed in the programme (including Des Walker!) but bore no relation to the team of 17-year-old nyaffs that turned out. And that was part of a transfer deal too.

Watford pulled a similar trick when they signed someone, Omari Coleman I think.

Not that I want to put anyone off from attending, after all I should hope all on here are going to see how Dulwich are shaping up for the forthcoming season and the opposition is immaterial!

Watford were supposed to do the same and brought their youth team down after the omari deal, as far as I could tell, though I gather there was some bad blood between the teams at that point.

Yeah, turnstiles will be fine, seeing as tickets consist of those raffle ticket things off a roll, I don't think they're even set up for all-ticket.

Of course, Pardew used to play for the Hamlets, so maybe that's why he wants to honour the agreement in the right spirit.

    • I get that they're being pollarded. This estate was built in the 60's and so I'm guessing that they're around 60 years old.  Nothing wrong with that but even when they re-grow they're hardly going to be the most attractive. Y'know just musing on improving the look of our public spaces.
    • Pretty repetitive on the transport section.  I like a good discussion and this does raise wider issues.  I miss banks more than post office branches which tend to be part of other stores.  A few other threads on the Lounge, come on over.  Or 🐕 💩
    • They'll look fine when they grow back in the spring.  The trees that should be removed are the female gingko biloba trees that are randomly dotted about the area. These produce hundreds of fruit that contain the putrid smelling butyric acid (the same chemical that is found in vomit and rancid butter).  The smell of these tress is absolutely vile and it lingers for months on end every year. There's one at the North Cross Road end of Ulverscroft road and it's huge and stinky.   I think they should be considered a public health hazard and should all be cut down.
