Another horrific icndent practically on our doorsteps

"The bodies of two men were discovered when firefighters were called to a blaze in a ground floor flat in New Cross on Sunday night. The victims, both French nationals in their 20s, were stabbed in the head, neck and chest, post-mortem tests have revealed. Officers have launched a double murder inquiry and have appealed for information.

Emergency services were called to the building in Sterling Gardens at around 10pm. The fire was put out and the bodies found in the flat. Police have identified the men but their names have not been released.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Duthie said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Sterling Gardens at any time over the weekend, and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious near the address, to get in touch.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone near the premises around 21.30 on Sunday.""

I don't really get freaked out easily, but this is pretty horrible.

Why would anyone feel the need to stab someone so many times?

The last time I felt quite so grim about something on the news was when that Austrian girl was found in her dad's cellar.

I find it hard to come to terms with that level of sickness in people, because I am always an optimist and believe everyone has some redeeming feature.

I would like to know why.

Can someone please explain something to me?..A white Guy was seen running away from the scene of the crime so we have something to go on to catch this monster, which can only be good. However although the killer of Dee Willis may be known to the Police and we know it was a Female there is still no description. Why is this?...Is it the fact that as they do know there is no need to publicise the description?

    • I was just in Japan and yes can confirm it's a lot cheaper than here. The flight was pricy, as was some of the accommodation. However, once there everything else was dirt cheap. We had some really nice meals at £5-6 for a main, though you can obviously pay a lot more. Beer/wine/coffee were often around £2. Public transport was great value - £3.50 for a day pass on the Tokyo metro which is massive, albeit more if you want to use the overground lines. We didn't do much shopping but Uniqlo (obviously a Japanese chain) was around 40% cheaper than here, plus a bit more if you go tax free. It is I imagine a lot easier for the non-Japanese speaker than in the 1980s. I survived for two weeks with little more than "thank you" and "cheers". Most people we dealt with in shops/restaurants/hotels spoke some English, and signs/announcements/ticket machines often have English translations.

    • I don't blame him..I'd love to live in Lewes! Shame its so pricy tho.
    • As mentioned above, one needs to request TW specifically in writing to be witch to metered paying system, they will not do it automatically despite forcefully installed water meter. From our experience, we benefited a lot by switching, even with watering our small garden occasionally.
