Pedestrian crossing being put in, along with various utilities (broadband etc) upgrades

I think it was rather that the works were destroying the existing under pavement installations which were then needing reinstatement. As this work doesn't seem to be described in the letter I received showing scheduling it wouldn't surprise me if the work was also a surprise to the utilities with under pavement infrastructure who are now rushing to recover the situation.

Broadband fibre is easily run (or blown) from 'manhole' flexibility points and doesn't need additional works to allow that. I'm guessing existing copper is being recovered to create more space. So I don't think this is clever planning rather more than TFL works screwing up other utilities who are having to install e.g. new cable chambers because their existing ones have been compromised by the works.

I think you'll find that there have been many threads on here with positive vibes!

But it seems that it's the negative ones which stay in people's memories.

Also, it's a bit like online reviews such as TrustPilot.

People tend to post if they have had a bad experience with a company or product. A good experience, not so much.

Same with starting a thread on here, I guess.

The posts on this part of the forum are virtually all complaining Sue.  Some people wake up in the morning angry.  Fortunately some of us don't.

Looking at the world there is of course plenty to be angry about.  We can discuss this on the Lounge.

I try from time to time but they tend to be hijacked or gather zero interest.   There are a small number of you who I expect have never posted anything positive.  Shame.

I was talking about the forum as a whole.

Sorry, I didn't realise that you meant just this part of it!

As I'm sure you've seen, there are some massive roadworks going on outside the Grove Tavern site. Does anyone have any details on what they are? Are they related to any potential refurb of the Grove Tavern site?

I live in the area, contacted southwark council and tfl, have not received a response yet why the works are to take 13 weeks.

How about working long hours / weekends / overnight?

To minimise the chaos and disruption.

    • It’s good to see local councillors are taking this crash seriously, hopefully the police will also. The tyres marks left on the road suggest speed could have been a factor. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FaPQjGu7x/?mibextid=wwXIfr

    • Before I switched, if memory serves there was some sort of thing on Thames Water's website which you could use to determine whether or not you would be better off with a meter. No idea if it's still there. Also, I have a vague recollection that if you found you were worse off financially with the meter after a certain time period, you could switch back. Have I imagined that? Whatever, I don't actually recall hearing of anyone who thought they were worse off with a meter, though I'm sure there must be some.
