I was pushing a pram along Lordship Lane today, with a couple of friends, and my leg went beneath me into a ruddy big hole where a pavement slab was missing, just outside The Bishop. Massive bruise to my ankle, and 2 cuts which bled for a while...here's hoping I don't get any infections from the dust/debris that I had to rub off my trousers...

Anyone had any experience of complaints to Southwark about such matters?...

Oh..and watch yourselves if it's not fixed imminently - it's bloody dangerous!

... and pictures of the hole with enough in the photo to distinguish it as that hole in particular. I would do close ups and then from a distance with the Bish in the background, and then perhaps along the pavement, so they can see how much space the hole takes up across it. Good luck.

Unless you're a septuagenarian in real danger of breaking your hip, can't you just phone up and suggest they put a bt of tape around it, or talk to the Bishop.

What is this, the United States?

Missus Mockney got tumbled into a proper hole outside the Cherry a couple of years back (by a drunken forumite who shall remain unnamed). When she went back the next day the staff at at the Cherry were really defensive and frankly scared until she assured them that she just wanted tape around it to stop it happening to others. plus she was knocked unconscious, she didn't just scrape her knee.

Come on people, some perspective here.

ps it was Keef ;)

the pubs on LL take ? hand over fist and rather than privide a service for residents, they help enusure that the detritus of piss artistry fouls LL many nights of the week, into the early hours. If its on their marked territory, then consider your options carefully

If it is the councils manor , then just report it

I am in no way condoning compo culture & have a eef th the Bish in particular , but if a business like this begins affecting the health of non customers, then they have to be brought to task - they are not a communtiy service. they have responsibilities that overide their thirst for profit.

I dunno snorks. We had a good lunch in the Bishop on Saturday, after which I dopily left my bag behind - one of the great staff (the tall chap) chased me up the road to give it back to me. V good people in there in my experience.

A friend of ours nearly fell in said hole on Sunday afternoon. He was having a particularly clumsy day though, especially having been warned about and hour prior to this to watch out for a tree root, which he then proceeded to trip over. >:D< (Not funny to read, but it was hilarious at the time)

Agree though, it's dodgy and should be fixed.

    • Hello - If anybody has any hifi valve amplifiers, working or in need of restoration, I'm keen to buy such things from you! I particularly like amps from the 50s and 60s, the sort of thing you used to find in old sideboards, but ultimately anything with glass tubes sticking out of them is of interest to me. I am also in the market for good quality hifi items in general, particularly faulty items in need of fixing and restoration. This includes turntables, amplifiers, cd players, speakers, graphic EQs, cassette players, reel to reel players, etc. etc. Ultimately, all electronic musical objects are of intrigue to me. Many thanks, and hope to hear from you soon, -Scott 07956 853 538
    • Using the smart CCTV cameras is your best strategy - particularly if they have adequate infra-red capability. Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday. If you need any help, please drop me a PM. S7.mp4
    • Not in Ed, but I was in NE England over the weekend and saw an otter in the wild! Never seen one before, it was quite lovely.
    • Well unless the heron got them later, there were the  two cootlets. I think some others of this year's babies must have escaped the heron. Many years ago (and possibly still, though I never see them any more) there was a whole heron family on the island  - mum, dad and youngster. I don't know how long herons live. Maybe this one is the grown up youngster.
