Hello,

We're getting close to choosing a nursery for our son to attend from three (he's currently two) and have visited a few different montessori nurseries now, with our preference being Dulwich Oaks Montessori, though before making a final decision I'd really appreciate any personal views people may have whose children currently attend there. The things we like about it are the large open-plan internal space and large garden and that it's soon to start forest school-type sessions and provide cooked meals, though the thing that would clinch it for us is if other people were happy with their children being there -- so pls do let me know your views. Also happy to hear views by PM if you'd prefer. Many thanks in advance.

Hi, my son started last September (2.9 years) and has had a wonderful time. He had an initial blip about not wanting to be dropped off but that was due to his personality rather than anything to do with the pre school. I've found the staff to be wonderful and caring and so far no staff have left so great continuity for him. They have helped my son to grow in confidence and I would have no problems recommending them.

    • Do you have any binoculars?  My first ever sighting of swifts was when I was lying in the park, trying out some 10x25s.  Nothing at all in within plain sight, but when I was playing around with the focus -- presumably for clouds or planes -- suddenly there they were.   I've still never heard any in real life though.  The sample I heard on the BBC website sounded fairly high frequency and not very loud, so I suppose I might miss some; but then there have been precious few reports I've seen here of any being heard.  The only one I remember is Jenny1's last year.
    • None of that makes any sense. Rumour and vibes-based governance...   Meanwhile, thanks in part to the NIMBY tendencies of certain councillors, 23 London council areas saw 0 (zero) new housing units under construction in Q1 2024. Pitiful. About 724,000 (net) people moved to the UK in 2024, a sizeable chunk of them to London. The already high demand for housing is increasing, and the supply isn't changing at all. Rent prices (and therefore taxpayer funds paid to private landlords through Housing Benefit) are going up...and new housing units are objected to because they're "visible" and because a fear that rich foreign students will live there.
    • Lots of hoverflies (that look like drone honeybees) about today. Also, tiny (< .5cm) bees/wasps
    • Posting for friend. Both missing since Thursday eve. Last seen in back garden on Soames Street, their garden backs onto gardens in bellenden road, avondale rise and copleston road. Gladys went missing a month or so ago and I know she was chased by a large black and white cat and again he is back in my garden and now both my cats missing. They are both chipped and neutered. No collars.  Thank you.
