Very frustrating for people who just swim that yet again the pool is closed and I'm told it won't be a 'quick fix'. The membership price is about to increase considerably and I'm basically getting nothing for my money at the moment. On top of that, 2 shower doors are missing, there's only one hairdryer (finally, after months) and the pool filter has been broken so we've been swimming in unfiltered water. I've emailed a few times to express my feelings about this as I don't see why we should be paying for a service we're not getting. I hope others in a similar position will too. I also think it's a pity they don't do a swim-only (and perhaps gym-only) membership at a discounted price as there are plenty of people who only use one facility.

For that to work they would need separately monitored entrances to the pool and gym sections - with no cross-over allowed between them (and separate changing rooms perhaps?). And gyms actually make their money from people not using them. 'Members but not users'. Of course what you suggest would be sensible and convenient as regards the members - but that isn't the game they're in, is it?

    • Thanks George.  The sub post office sold penny sweets - a blast from the past.  They were happy to let the post office go as they told me there had been some serious robberies - with menace.  But it didn't last much longer Roy operated from very old coach house building from the adjacent hotel, he sold these and built a brand new facility, he had to use yellow brick, but then some personal stuff meant that he had to let it go, and there was no reason to keep a garage there so were turned into apartments.  There were some very shacky and old buildings on the other side (to the left as you look from the street) and a mobile mechanic used to work from there, but they went I think after Covid. The coal sheds from the branch line would have been behind as well. I phoned Robert Elms up on his programme when he was asking about a London pub which had doubled up as an undertakers.  It may have been the Moore Park Hotel but I was more interested in Elm's views as he doesn't recognise that SE London exists, Well, begrudgingly Peckham, as one of his kids lives there. We did a local pub crawl many years ago starting with the hotel, which had been turned into flats by then, but we had some home made stout and made our own pub sign for a bit of fun. Of course this side of the road is Lewisham, so we shouldn't be discussing it here, but I wont tell anyone.
    • Can't remember if the off license was independent or a chain, don't think it was Unwins.
    • The maximum weight for Royal Mail parcels is apparently 20kg. Over that it must go via Parcel Force.
    • I received a LARGE parcel last week, definitely delivered by our usual RM van driver and not by Parcel Force and tracked on Royal Mail website. I'm round the corner from Lacon Road and received two other smaller packages last week sent 48 hour tracking which arrived within the 48 hours- despite tracking showing they went from the Midlands via Aberdeen to East Dulwich.
